Title: The Patriot Post Digest 7-26-2019 Post by: nChrist on July 26, 2019, 01:40:13 PM ________________________________ The Patriot Post Digest 7-26-2019 From The Federalist Patriot Free Email Subscription (http://patriotpost.us/subscription/new) _______________________________ The Patriot Post® · Mid-Day Digest Jul. 26, 2019 https://patriotpost.us/digests/64552-mid-day-digest THE FOUNDATION “However weak our country may be, I hope we shall never sacrifice our liberties.” —Alexander Hamilton (1790) https://patriotpost.us/fqd/64550-founders-quote-daily IN TODAY’S EDITION Omar may be racist, but she’ll still lecture the rest of us about racism.1 Warning: Take care of your data on social media.2 Daily Features: More Analysis3, Columnists4, Headlines5, Opinion in Brief6, Short Cuts7, Memes8, and Cartoons9. IN BRIEF Omar to America: ‘You Bunch of Racists’10 Ilhan Omar, the congresswoman from Minnesota, is one of the more bigoted members of the Democrat Party. And that’s saying something. Yet she took to the op-ed page of The New York Times Thursday to lecture the rest of us about race. “It Is Not Enough to Condemn Trump’s Racism,” blares the headline11, which is followed by the teaser, “The nation’s ideals are under attack, and it is up to all of us to defend them.” So what are those ideals? In a word, socialism. Of course, we’d expect nothing less from Omar and her fellow “Gang of Four” travelers. But what’s most appalling about her moral preening is how she’s throwing rocks from a glass house. We’ve documented12 Omar’s bigotry plenty in the past, but it’s somewhat amusing that on the same day she published her Times screed, video13 of a 2018 interview surfaced in which she said this: I would say our country should be more fearful of white men across our country because they are actually causing most of the deaths within this country. And so if fear was the driving force of policies to keep America safe, Americans safe inside of this country, we should be profiling, monitoring, and creating policies to fight the radicalization of white men. Actually, roughly half of the murders in America are perpetrated by black men — murdering other black men — despite the fact that the entire black population is just 13% of the whole. This violence largely takes place on Democrat-run urban poverty plantations14. We suppose it’s “racist” to point out those inconvenient truths, however, because Omar and her ilk would rather spin a narrative of the deadly danger of supposedly surging white nationalism. As for her op-ed, Omar first tells us her personal story of arriving as a refugee from Somalia (well, she left out the part about her own alleged marital fraud15). But instead of telling how a poor foreign girl became an American citizen who went on to win a seat in Congress — what a great country! — she expresses her bitter disappointment in America: “The America we arrived in was different from the one my grandfather had hoped to find. The land of opportunity he imagined was in fact full of challenges.” In short, those challenges were rampant racism and bigotry, on top of the fact that she wasn’t handed everything just for being here. No one forced her to stay. She then blames President Donald Trump and Republicans for what Democrats specialize in doing: “weaponizing division,” using “racist language” to “turn American against American,” and ensuring that “Americans are too busy fighting with one another” to address the nation’s real problems. While decrying what is really her own party’s strategy, she then declares socialism to be the American ideal needing protection. Open borders, voting without ID, demolishing the economy to fight climate change, eradicating “soaring inequality” through raising the job-destroying federal minimum wage, and providing “affordable health care” via single-payer government control are just some of the socialist agenda items “ideals at the heart of our founding” she purports to defend. Omar and her fellow socialist travelers are quickly becoming the face of the Democrat Party. They’re its ideological driving engine. So when one of them takes to the pages of one of America’s biggest newspapers to articulate their radical vision, take heed. https://patriotpost.us/articles/64549-omar-to-america-you-bunch-of-racists A Facebook FaceApp Reality Check16 Facebook violates your privacy, which is why the FTC recently fined the social-media behemoth FIVE BILLION DOLLARS17 for selling the information it collects on its users. Meanwhile, Facebook’s political monitors and data algorithms keep posts from pages you follow “private” from your feed because they deem them not suitable for you. Despite that fact, some of our Patriot Post social-media posts have significant organic reach. As I noted in a recent column, “The Left’s Moderation of Conservative Media18,” there are cadres of influential social-media leftists who are quick to report what they deem as “offensive” content in order to have the “offending” content removed and the hosting page penalized. That included a recent Patriot Post page meme asserting there are only two genders. Apparently, the Facebook collective media monitors are “Gender Deniers19.” Facebook users also combine as “community content moderators,” but it’s the content-screening algorithms looking for content that violates Facebook’s “community standards” that are social media’s “Big Brother.” A recent tech journal described this moderation process as an ugly business20. To that end, I noticed something interesting about a topic I posted on Facebook critical of Facebook’s privacy violations and the use of the viral FaceApp: It got no traction — not a single like or comment, which is highly unusual. So I took down the original post, waited a few days and reposted it — same result. I suspect that a Facebook content algorithm prevented this post from propagating because it contained a link to an article critical of Facebook: “Think FaceApp Is Scary? Wait Till You Hear About Facebook21.” Since Facebook basically quarantined the post, let me restate the social-media warning: If you think all those social-media questionnaires and games are just for your amusement, think again. They are there to collect information on YOU and use it to determine what ads to put in your face, or worse, to sell to third-party vendors. The latest trending “fun thing” on Facebook is the FaceApp, and in an age when facial-recognition software is the next “Big Brother” tech threat, more than 150 million people worldwide22 have uploaded their faces to Facebook and the app’s Russian developer. Seriously? Cybersecurity experts warn that if you have downloaded that app from Google Play or the iOS App Store, delete it. TOP NEWS EXECUTIVE SUMMARY SPENDING BILL CLEARS HOUSE: “The House approved new budget limits Thursday, surging spending and debt over the next two years — though the vote showed a growing rebellion among Republicans over surging deficits and President Trump’s willingness to sign hefty funding increases. … The final vote tally was 284-149, with more than 90% of Democrats backing it. More than two-thirds of Republicans defied Mr. Trump and opposed the bill.” (The Washington Times32) TARIFF COUNTERBALANCE: “The U.S. government will pay American farmers hurt by the trade war with China between $15 and $150 per acre in an aid package totaling $16 billion, officials said on Thursday, with farmers in the South poised to see higher rates than in the Midwest. The assistance, starting in mid-to-late August, follows Republican President Donald Trump’s $12 billion package last year that was aimed at making up for lower farm good prices and lost sales.” (Reuters33) Title: The Patriot Post Digest 7-26-2019 Post by: nChrist on July 26, 2019, 01:41:29 PM ________________________________ The Patriot Post Digest 7-26-2019 From The Federalist Patriot Free Email Subscription (http://patriotpost.us/subscription/new) _______________________________ 2Q GROWTH SLOWS: “Growth decelerated in the second quarter, but not by as much as Wall Street thought, as tariffs and a global slowdown weighed on the U.S. economy, the Commerce Department reported Friday. Otherwise, you’re acquiescing to having a racist president. If you believe, as Representative Cheri Bustos contends, that Trump created a Constitutional crisis with his decisions regarding the Department of Justice, then you clearly must think he’s got to go. If you believe, as Representative Judy Chu said, that Trump thinks he is above the law, then you must want to ensure he faces consequences for breaking the law. If you believe, as Jim Clyburn argued, that ‘This man and his family are the greatest threats to democracy of my lifetime,’ then it is inexplicable that you wouldn’t want him removed from office as quickly as possible. Yet Bustos, Chu, and Clyburn voted to kill the most recent impeachment resolution; Pelosi did not vote but made her opposition clear. … Responsibility means accepting consequences, and for now, far too many House Democrats fear the consequences of an unpopular impeachment effort to reach that threshold of a majority.” SHORT CUTS Collusion delusion, part I: “How could Mr. Mueller think that the Steele dossier that drove the media clamor about Russia-Trump collusion for months wasn’t part of his purview? Mr. Mueller may never answer that question.” —The Wall Street Journal Collusion delusion, part II: “It’s inconceivable that Robert Mueller ran this investigation. One thing that was evident in seven hours of testimony is that he only has a remote familiarity with his own report and with the investigation. He was actually staff-driven and that’s what the president has been saying all along.” —Andrew McCarthy For the record: “The last Washington Post/ABC news poll found 63 percent of registered voters oppose impeachment. That’s higher than Trump’s approval rating, meaning there are a decent number of voters out there who don’t approve of the president but who don’t want to see him impeached, particularly when they’ll get to render their verdict on him in 15 months. Impeachment is a subtle declaration of the Democrats that they do not trust the electorate to come to the right conclusion about Trump.” —Jim Geraghty Friendly fire: “I single out my former employer in particular, in part because they were certainly the worst mainstream offenders.
