IN BRIEF Illegal Aliens Get Demo Money — Veterans, Not So Much10 Leftists and their policies have increasingly favored noncitizens over citizens, but Democrats in New York may well have set a new low. New York’s Higher Education Committee this week voted against advancing a bipartisan bill that would have provided free college tuition to the families of veterans killed in the line of duty. That’s bad enough, but this was after state lawmakers just last week passed a $175 billion budget that included $27 million in tuition aid to children of illegal aliens. By contrast, a few hundred thousand dollars will not be added to the existing program for 145 vets’ kids, which currently costs just $2.7 million — a mere tenth of the tuition aid that the state’s illegals will receive. Several Republican lawmakers weren’t happy, and they blasted their Democrat counterparts. Assemblyman Gary Finch may have said it best: “It’s disgraceful. Soldiers who lay down their lives and make the ultimate sacrifice represent the best of us. The children they love so dearly deserve access to the opportunity and promise that is the hallmark of this country. I can’t imagine what’s in your heart when you vote ‘no’ on a bill like this.” Republican Assemblyman Will Barclay, one of the bill’s cosponsors, surmised that partisanship was the real reason behind the Democrats’ “no” vote. “We get so caught up in majority and minority issues here, we can’t see the forest through the trees,” he said11, adding, “I don’t know how they don’t justify this.” Assemblywoman Deborah Glick (D), who chairs the committee and voted against the bill, claimed that concerns over the budget weighed against expanding the veteran tuition-aid program. But state Sen. Robert Ortt (R) wasn’t buying it12: “Assemblywoman Glick should be ashamed of herself. We set aside $27 million for college for people that are here illegally. … Apparently $2.7 million is all that the families of soldiers who are killed get. If you’re a child of a fallen soldier, you do not rank as high and you know that by the money.” Indeed, “Show me your budget and I’ll tell you what you value” is a common refrain used by Joe Biden13 and other free-spending leftists, and it tells us all we need to know about “progressive” values. It would’ve been one thing if Democrats had refused to fund either program, as their fiscal concerns would’ve at least been believable. But giving handouts to those who aren’t even here legally while stiffing the children of Patriots who’ve given their lives for this great nation is simply despicable. https://patriotpost.us/articles/62348-illegal-aliens-get-demo-money-veterans-not-so-much Dems Play the Victim While Making Light of 9/1114 This past week provided a perfect example of leftists’ inability to argue the merits of an issue. All they do when challenged is cry oppression and racism. On Tuesday, Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) called out Rep. Ilhan Omar15 (D-MN) for her demonstrably false statements regarding the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) and the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Crenshaw wrote, “First Member of Congress to ever describe terrorists who killed thousands of Americans on 9/11 as ‘some people who did something.’ Unbelievable.” Though virtually all Crenshaw did was quote her, Omar responded by playing the victim, claiming that Crenshaw’s comments were “dangerous incitement, given the death threats I face. I hope leaders of both parties will join me in condemning it.” She then added, “My love and commitment to our country and that of my colleagues should never be in question. We are All Americans.” But Crenshaw was having none of it, replying, “1. I never called you un-American. 2. I did not incite any violence against you. 3. You described an act of terrorism on American soil that killed thousands of innocent lives as ‘some people did something.’ It’s still unbelievable, as is your response here.” Then America’s favorite socialist, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), jumped to defend her fellow leftist, only to further expose her own profound ignorance by attacking Crenshaw, asking why he hasn’t done anything about terrorism. AOC then ridiculously asserted that Crenshaw’s criticism of Omar was “an incitement of violence against progressive women of color.” First, the notion that Crenshaw has not done anything about 9/11 terrorism is flat-out absurd. Memo to AOC: There’s a reason he wears that eye patch, and it’s not because he’s trying to look like a pirate. He is a Navy SEAL, a decorated war hero who served in both Iraq and Afghanistan and lost his eye while fighting jihadis in league with those who perpetrated the 9/11 attacks. Second, calling out someone for their false, misleading, and offensive remarks is not an “incitement to violence.” To suggest such a thing is utterly despicable and logically indefensible. But this is what identity politics breeds — entitled narcissists who cry “racism” and “bigotry” whenever their absurdity is challenged and refuted. That 3,000 Americans were murdered by bloodthirsty radical Islamic terrorists on 9/1116 is not merely “some people did something,” and the fact that Omar refuses to recognize this fact is not just offensive but downright appalling. The New York Post editorial board was spot on when writing, “Omar’s cavalier brushing off of the murder of thousands of innocents on 9/11 should shock all Americans, Muslims included.” Even if AOC and Omar think their Melanin Score inoculates them from criticism. https://patriotpost.us/articles/62371-dems-play-the-victim-while-making-light-of-9-slash-11 ON OUR WEBSITE TODAY Featured Analysis: The ‘MAGA Bomber’ Hoaxer — Guilty17 — The devices were a hoax, but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t still terrorism. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., has proposed a new tax on the most profitable companies in the U.S. as part of her presidential campaign platform. It’s the latest new tax from Warren, whose proposed levies are estimated to raise $4.1 trillion over 10 years if enacted. Warren says she would use the funds to pay for new housing and universal child care proposals. The new proposal Warren pitched Thursday would tax companies that earn over $100 million per year, which she estimates to number about 1200 currently.” (Washington Examiner23) OBAMA COUNSEL INDICTED: “Former Obama White House counsel Gregory Craig was indicted Thursday on charges that he made false statements to investigators and concealed information about his work for Ukrainian officials, the Justice Department announced. … He faces up to five years in prison for each of the two charged offenses and will be arraigned at a later date. The former White House counsel was reportedly investigated by special counsel Robert Mueller before the case was referred to the Southern District of New York and then back to prosecutors in Washington, D.C.” (The Hill24) INTERIOR DEPARTMENT GETS A NEW CHIEF: “Congress confirmed David Bernhardt as Interior secretary on Thursday… Bernhardt was confirmed … in a 56-41 vote with three Democrats and one Independent breaking ranks to vote for him. … Bernhardt’s confirmation … means he will now oversee about 500 million acres of publicly owned land as well as the energy production on that land and offshore.” (The Hill25) VILLAGE ACADEMIC CURRICULUM: “Georgetown University could become the first college in the nation to mandate a fee to benefit descendants of slaves sold by the university nearly 200 years ago… By almost a 2-to-1 margin, students approved the measure, which still must be approved by the university to go into effect. The school’s undergraduates voted Thursday on the referendum, which would increase tuition by $27.20 per semester to create a fund benefiting descendants of the 272 slaves sold to pay off the Georgetown Jesuits’ debt — a move that saved the university financially.” (ABC News26) Title: The Patriot Post Digest 4-12-2019 Post by: nChrist on April 12, 2019, 04:01:49 PM ________________________________ The Patriot Post Digest 4-12-2019 From The Federalist Patriot Free Email Subscription (http://patriotpost.us/subscription/new) _______________________________ PRO-LIFE VICTORY: “Ohio Gov. Thiessen: “President Trump is 100 percent correct that there is a crisis on our southern border. And he is absolutely right when he says some migrants are abusing our asylum laws. But he is dead wrong when he declares, in what has become his favorite refrain, that ‘Our country is FULL.’ … The trouble is, the United States is not producing enough native-born workers. According to the Economic Innovation Group, 80% of U.S. counties lost prime working-age adults from 2007 through 2017. And the situation is not improving. According to Census Bureau data, our population growth rate for fiscal year 2017-2018 was 0.62% — the lowest since 1937, during the Great Depression. The U.S. population is now growing at less than replacement levels. The decline is driven in large part by millennials, who are marrying and having children at much lower rates than previous generations. It’s ironic. Many millennials want socialism, but they are not producing the future workers and taxpayers needed to pay for it. … So, yes, our shining city on a hill needs walls — because the world is a dangerous place, and we are a nation of laws. But, as President Ronald Reagan put in it his farewell address, those walls must also have doors. And the sign above those doors should read ‘Welcome to America’ — not ‘Sorry, we’re full.’” SHORT CUTS Upright: “When we reduce people to their politics and we isolate ourselves from interacting with or appreciating anyone who doesn’t march in lockstep with our personal dogma, we will accomplish nothing more than depriving ourselves of encountering some truly extraordinary people that God has gifted with the ability and desire to bless our lives. So, he is not acting as the attorney general, but he’s acting as the spinmaster for the president. … So when somebody like Trump gets people who have some competency, but he then corrupts them, he gets them to lie, to mismanage, or to really sort of sow chaos … then you have this perpetual cloud of confusion and misunderstanding.” —Jennifer Rubin46 And last… “Eric Swalwell Campaign slogan: I see you.
