Featured Analysis: Family is still the building block of society. IN BRIEF An Obama Judge Blocks Trump’s Asylum Order1 Thomas Gallatin In a bid to prevent the caravan of Central American migrants from crossing the U.S. southern border illegally, President Donald Trump ordered that no asylum requests be accepted or processed for such illegally crossing individuals. Only asylum requests made at legal ports of entry would be accepted for review. Trump’s order was aimed at closing a loophole that has been increasingly exploited by illegal aliens seeking to gain access into the U.S. On Monday, however, a federal judge in the sanctuary city of San Francisco blocked Trump’s order, ruling that it violated the law. In his ruling, Judge Jon Tigar, an Obama appointee, wrote, “The rule barring asylum for immigrants who enter the country outside a port of entry irreconcilably conflicts with the INA and the expressed intent of Congress. Whatever the scope of the President’s authority, he may not rewrite the immigration laws to impose a condition that Congress has expressly forbidden.” The law in question is the 1965 Immigration and Nationality Act, which states that any foreigner arriving in the U.S. “whether or not at a designated port of arrival” may apply for asylum. Obviously, greater clarity will need to be brought over the question of legal versus illegal entry into the country. That said, this is clearly another blow to Trump and his attempt to stem the problem of illegal immigration and the immediate threat posed by the swelling caravan currently sitting across the border in Tijuana, Mexico2. Since Democrats are the party of de facto open-border absolutists, they are sure to cheer this latest setback for Trump, ignoring the ongoing abuse of our nation’s sovereignty. How else does one explain Democrats’ creation and support for “sanctuary cities,” their despicable smear of equating ICE with the racist KKK3, their continued rejection of building a border wall, and their constant willful conflation of the terms illegal and legal. Moreover, they regularly label Trump and Republicans as racist, anti-immigrant bigots for insisting on upholding the nation’s laws. Meanwhile, Homeland Security officials noted that at least 500 known criminals are among the 6,000 members of the caravan currently waiting in Tijuana and that “most of the caravan members are not women and children.” In other words, the majority of these individuals will not meet the standards for legitimately receiving asylum, but thanks to an Obama judge, they can still cross illegally and apply. https://patriotpost.us/articles/59582-an-obama-judge-blocks-trumps-asylum-order No, Ivanka’s Private Email Use Is Not the Same as Hillary’s4 Nate Jackson Ivanka Trump, the president’s daughter and senior adviser, sometimes used a private email address to send official White House correspondence throughout 2017. The flagship Leftmedia #Resistance publication, The Washington Post, broke the story last night and quickly drew the obvious parallel5: “The discovery alarmed some advisers to President Trump, who feared that his daughter’s prac¬tices bore similarities to the personal email use of Hillary Clinton, an issue he made a focus of his 2016 campaign. He attacked his Democratic challenger as untrustworthy and dubbed her ‘Crooked Hillary’ for using a personal email account as secretary of state.” Leftists came out of the woodwork to throw the “lock her up” chant back in Trump’s face. The Trumps are a bunch of hypocrites, right? Not quite. It is true that after, er, What Happened to Hillary Clinton, all public officials should be cured of ever using private email to conduct official business. This isn’t rocket science. At the very least, pleading ignorance as Ivanka Trump did is downright laughable. But Peter Mirijanian, a spokesman for Trump’s attorney, cut to the chase: “To address misinformation being peddled about Ms. Trump’s personal email, she did not create a private server in her house or office, there was never classified information transmitted, the account was never transferred or housed at Trump Organization, no emails were ever deleted, and the emails have been retained in the official account in conformity with records preservation laws and rules.” By contrast6 — and far worse than the WaPo’s downplayed summary — Clinton exclusively used a private, unsecured email server in her home while she was secretary of state. Despite professionally scrubbing more than 30,000 emails (that were never recovered), FBI investigators still found more than 2,000 emails that contained some form of classified information, including 22 that communicated top secret information. Clinton used her secret server specifically to avoid scrutiny before her 2016 presidential bid — scrutiny of corrupt dealings by the Clinton Foundation and its pay-to-play favors for other nations that enriched Bill and Hillary Clinton. She then escaped consequences because a political hack named James Comey, then director of the FBI, explained why Clinton didn’t really mean to break the law. And because Barack Obama also used private email to conduct official business with Hillary. But never mind all that. As Hot Air’s John Sexton quips7, “The upside here is we’re finally about to learn from Democrats how bad it is for people in government to skirt federal record-keeping laws.” https://patriotpost.us/articles/59581-no-ivankas-private-email-use-is-not-the-same-as-hillarys ON THE WEB TODAY The Caravan Meets Resistance in Tijuana2 — “This is an invasion,” said one resident. “We demand respect. Trae Putnam and his son, Fore, appeared on Fox & Friends in March after Trump replied to Fore’s letter that asked the president to “please help.” The pair appeared on Fox & Friends again on Monday, and Putnam said he got his new kidney last month and has been feeling better every day since. It’s the way big government has become so welcomed in our culture with ever-greater dependency on its provisions with each passing generation. What’s that, you ask? The methodical, deliberate redefinitions of terms such as life, gender, marriage, identity, etc. and the replacement of critical institutions, like the family and the faith community, with the government, have created the new normal. Many citizens now look to government programs to fulfill needs and solve problems, releasing them from a sense of personal responsibility or ownership and lessening dependence upon family. Title: The Patriot Post Digest 11-20-2018 Post by: nChrist on November 20, 2018, 04:14:15 PM ________________________________ The Patriot Post Digest 11-20-2018 From The Federalist Patriot Free Email Subscription (http://patriotpost.us/subscription/new) _______________________________ Today, one’s identity is warped into a social construct permitted by some conjured up “right” to reject biology. Marriage, similarly, has been redefined to make a political point instead of its purpose as a key in a healthy society to procreate and provide sustenance and support. These reckless maneuvers borne on the political Left aimed to establish a more “progressive” society are, in fact, resulting in its destruction and material harm to individuals. Analysis, opinion, and hard data are voluminous: Intact families have greater earning capacity as a unit and produce children — both male and female — who earn more in their future careers. Children from families with both parents present in the home perform better in school have higher expectations and have capacity to deal with greater responsibility. According to31 National Institute of Health research, looking at “the impact of family structure on the health of children,” there is a definitive benefit of intact families. In its opening statement, NIH says, “Nearly three decades of research evaluating the impact of family structure on the health and well-being of children demonstrates that children living with their married, biological parents consistently have better physical, emotional, and academic well-being.” That may sound Leave-it-to-Beaverish, but the reality remains. While demanding the same results that would come from an intact family, leftists scoff and replace parents with “a village” of government-funded surrogate programs. Then parents wonder why their kids are incapable of personal responsibility, devoid of healthy relationships with friends and family, and at a complete deficit in effective communication and social graces. Go figure. The Left demands “educational equity” in schools but won’t dare touch the facts that children do better when parents are their first teachers, and a home is comprised of a mom and a dad. The “liberated” women of the Left, now even more angry and militant than ever, seem to thrive in the newly defined male persona of either an effeminate and compliant being or excessive in masculinity that translates into violent, oppressive, and sexist behavior. As noted32 in the June 2014 edition of the Institute for Family Studies, these women, united in their grievances, completely disregard social science that demonstrates “daughters whose fathers have been actively engaged throughout childhood in promoting their academic or athletic achievements and encouraging their self-reliance and assertiveness are more likely to graduate from college and to enter the higher-paying, more demanding jobs traditionally held by males.” Today, we’re much more likely33 than in decades past to see couples cohabitate instead of marry. The destruction of the stigma opposing sex outside of marriage has led to the growth in this practice. Looking at how this trend has made its impact, Stanford researchers reviewed34 several qualitative and quantitative analyses to conclude that those who cohabitate prior to marriage have a better first year of marriage, but the divorce rate is similar following the inaugural year. Couples who only cohabitate have demonstrated dissolution relationship rates up to four times greater than married couples. In non-abusive relationships, economic and emotional security, as well has physical health and well-being, are dramatically improved for the couple, as well as their children. While marriage has its challenges, the reality of single-parent households is, in part, due to the increase in divorce, related to the ease of legislative barriers of decades past to obtain a divorce. Further, the decline in using the Bible as the standard for defining a family has eased the stigma of out-of-wedlock births — and thus nearly 40% of all Americans under 21 are now born outside of marriage. On the one hand, the Left demands that families stay together if they are crossing America’s borders illegally, but, on the other hand, wants every incentive possible to replace an intact family with government programs. These actions are based on the desire to use identity politics to lure illegal immigrants and single women with children into political support of well-designed leftist platform of government dependence, rather than promote whole families. Is our society authentically better today with a greater quality of life, a reduction of mental illness, and a population with a healthy identity rooted in self-worth that pursues potential? Or is our American culture more characteristic of fragile, emotion-driven demi-gods that live in a bubble of self-gratification? Wake up, folks. We’re watching a growing mass of our population raise their children to be weaker, frailer, and more dependent upon government for their income, their nourishment, and their day-to-day existence. The destruction of our families is leading to the destruction of our great nation. Just as the Left has been deliberate to destroy families, we must match that intentional effort to sustain them and their value. https://patriotpost.us/articles/59573-the-family-is-still-the-building-block-of-society OPINION IN BRIEF Stephen Moore: “Stalin, Lenin, Marx, Mao, Pol Pot, Antifa, Castro, Che Guevara and the like use power to reduce the sanctity of the individual for the common good of the collective. It is a kind of enslavement that degrades the human spirit and makes us poorer over time. But the real villains here are not the leftists of yesteryear who set back the quest for human freedom and material progress, but the modern left — the academics, the politicians, the media mavens — who know, or should know, full well the destruction and retardation of statism, but still selfishly pursue it.” SHORT CUTS Insight: “The least initial deviation from the truth is multiplied later a thousandfold.” —Aristotle (384-322 BC) Upright: “I have literally been attacked, so let’s choose our words carefully.” —Congressman-elect Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) denouncing a congresswoman-elect’s assertion that Trump is perpetrating “an attack on the press” (As The Washington Free Beacon reminds us, “Crenshaw, a retired Navy SEAL, lost an eye in combat during a tour in Afghanistan.”) Sore loser: “It was not a free and fair election. … Brian Kemp oversaw for eight years the systematic and systemic dismantling of our democracy, and that means there could not be free and fair elections in Georgia this year.” —Stacey Abrams For the record: “I lost an election by nearly the same margin that sour grapes Stacey Abrams lost her race for the governorship of Georgia. It sucks. But her embarrassing attempts to discredit Kemp, WITHOUT EVIDENCE, are disgraceful & should be called out by every responsible member of the media.” —Dan Bongino Socialist endgame: “I think people all over this city, of every background, would like to have the city government be able to determine which building goes where, how high it will be, who gets to live in it, what the rent will be. I think there’s a socialistic impulse, which I hear every day, in every kind of community that they would like things to be planned in accordance to their needs.” —New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio Alpha Jackass: “[Some Trump voters] will say, ‘Well, I’m not racist. I just voted for him because I didn’t like Hillary Clinton.’ And I just want to say … that doesn’t make you not racist. It actually makes you racist. If you support somebody who does racist things, that makes you racist."—Kirsten Powers And last… "The Ivanka Trump email situation is EXACTLY like Hillary Clinton’s, except for the unsecured server, classified information, destruction of 30,000 subpoenaed records, bleaching the hard drives, then smashing them all with hammers.” —Twitter satirist @hale_razor https://patriotpost.us/articles/59580-tuesday-short-cuts Join our editors and staff in daily prayer for our Patriots in uniform — Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines, and Coast Guardsmen — standing in harm’s way in defense of Liberty, and for their families.
