Economic stagnation continues, and Hillary promises more of the same. Spotlighting the model for illegal Democrat campaign cash. Five very key contrasts between the two presidential candidates. And more news, policy and opinion. THE FOUNDATION “In selecting men for office, let principle be your guide. Regard not the particular sect or denomination of the candidate — look to his character.” —Noah Webster (1789) FEATURED RIGHT ANALYSIS The Bottom Line on Clinton1 By Mark Alexander Over the past year, the 24-hour MSM news recyclers across the political spectrum have spun and re-spun, ad nauseam, allegations and denials about the criminal activities of Hillary Clinton and her chief prevaricator, DNC point man Bill Clinton2. The media is, first and foremost, interested in ad revenue (one reason The Patriot Post does not take advertising), and the relentless ranting has resulted in “scandal fatigue.” The big winners in this election cycle are the MSM bank accounts. The big loser is the American people, because what is important has been diluted by what is not, and too many media consumers can no longer distinguish between the two. Alternatively, The Patriot Post has offered cogent analysis on Hillary Clinton’s illegal effort to keep all of her communications as secretary of state off the grid3 in order to conceal them from freedom of information requests, which would expose her role in nefarious activities like the Benghazi cover-up3 to protect Barack Obama’s 2012 re-election and her own 2016 presidential plans. I have clearly chronicled Hillary’s prolific record of malfeasance4, and like Bill, her pathological penchant for lying5. I have provided concise analysis on their criminal Clinton Foundation enterprise6 and renewed FBI investigation7 into their criminal activity — despite protection from “Justice” Department fixers. The fact is, the Clinton’s abject corruption contaminates everything they touch8, and it’s about to swamp the national government. Allow me to summarize where this all stands on the eve of the presidential election. The announcement by FBI Director James Comey of a renewed investigation into Clinton’s concealed communications is too little too late. The fact is, Clinton ordered 32,000 emails “bleached” from her server archives after congressional subpoenas were issued for those communications. Clinton and her attorneys (who have inexplicably been given immunity) decided for themselves what to turn over and what to destroy. It’s highly unlikely that those destroyed communications will ever surface. The acknowledgment that the FBI has confidentially continued its investigation into the Clintons' illegal foundation pay-to-play9 political graft and influence schemes may produce indictments, but to what end? The courts have determined that a sitting president is immune from criminal prosecution. Thus, if Clinton is elected, the only recourse would be impeachment. Recall that Bill Clinton was guilty as charged in 1999, but Senate Democrats couldn’t muster enough integrity to reach the two-thirds mandate for conviction. The next House could refer charges to the Senate, but it’s even less likely now that Democrats would muster the integrity to reach the two-thirds mandate. The only way to avoid nationalizing the Clinton’s crime syndicate is to defeat Hillary Clinton10 at the polls. TOP RIGHT HOOKS Economic Outlook Under Hillary: More of the Same11 As Americans prepare to elect the next president four days from today, the last pre-election jobs reports shows “more of the same.” October new hires came in at an unimpressive 161,000, and the headline unemployment rate is 4.9%, down one-tenth of a point from last month, while the fuller measure of unemployment dropped slightly to 9.5%. We’ve also marked a full decade of sub 3% GDP growth after a recession created by the easy lending policies of Bill Clinton and the Democrats, not, as Hillary Clinton would have you believe, because of George W. Bush’s tax cuts. Under Clinton’s promise of increased tax and spend policies, the economic outlook amounts to “more lost years of slow economic growth,” reports The Wall Street Journal. More of the same lack of economic growth will play into the hands of leftists as they will continue to blame the wealthy and call for more policies designed to redistribute wealth. The Left dreams of a socialist society bolstered by the demand for greater government intervention as more Americans find themselves struggling to make ends meet. When choosing between the two candidates, the prospect of Donald Trump’s positive impact on a stagnate economy is a far better bet. Trump has called for lowering the corporate tax rate and deregulation of a business climate that has become overly burdened by too much Washington red tape. Professionally, Trump’s business acumen far exceeds that of his opponent. Clinton is adept in politically manipulating others as a means to further her own position and increase her personal wealth. But that won’t translate to economic growth for the rest of us. Spotlight: The Model for Illegal Demo Cash12 Thornton Law Firm in Boston really likes to support Democrats. Indeed, the prominent firm gave loads of cash to various Democrats — Boston Mayor Martin J. Walsh, Rep. Joseph Kennedy III, Sen. Edward Markey, Sen. Elizabeth Warren and Hillary Clinton among them — but it was above and beyond what campaign finance allowed. According to13 the Boston Globe, “Three partners at the firm — Michael Thornton, Garrett Bradley, and David Strouss — contributed more than $1.6 million over five years, mostly to Democratic candidates and the party. The partners received bonuses totaling about $1.4 million, often in the exact amount of the donation and on the same day.” Campaign finance laws prohibit “straw donors” — those who make political contributions in another person’s name — and this is one of the largest such schemes ever uncovered. The firm insists the lawyers received bonuses from their equity in the firm, which is legal, but the Center for Responsive Politics doesn’t buy the explanation and has filed a complaint with the Federal Elections Commission. Immediately after the Globe broke the story, the politicians began lining up to return the donations. But only because they were caught. Clinton and Warren are particularly hypocritical. Both rail against campaign financing with “dark” money and consistently oppose (in public) the peddling of influence. Clinton even promises to appoint Supreme Court justices based on her interpretation of campaign finance law. And yet the Clinton Foundation exists for two purposes: To help the Clintons avoid taxes, and to trade their political influence for money. Its pay-to-play schemes are legendary, and the Foundation is also the subject of a year-long but newly “high priority” FBI investigation. Warren is viewed by “progressives” as a paragon of virtue for her opposition to powerful players on Wall Street. But she not only accepted the shady cash; she even refused to return it until the investigation concluded. Sunlight being the best disinfectant, she has since changed her mind. This particular story is just a model for how they do it across the nation. Valor Above and Beyond — Best Film of the Year!14 By Mark Alexander Last week, I had the privilege of being present for a gathering of distinguished veterans at the National World War II Museum15 for a preview of an extraordinary film, Hacksaw Ridge16. A month ago I wrote a column on the subject of this film entitled “The Most Unlikely Hero — Desmond Doss17.” Desmond was one of our East Tennessee mountain neighbors. As a National Advisory Board Member of the Medal of Honor Heritage Center18 in Chattanooga, hallowed ground of The First Medals19 ever awarded, I joined our Heritage Center director, escorting Desmond’s original Medal of Honor for display at the preview. Desmond Doss was a Patriot whose character reflects the essential spirit of American greatness20. His Medal of Honor citation21 reads like fiction, but his heroic actions over 22 days are well documented. In my humble opinion (though he would never have accepted such praise), Desmond’s citation is among the most awe-inspiring of all 3,514 Medals awarded since its inception. It took 70 years to bring Desmond’s story to the big screen, primarily because of his concern that Hollywood would give the glory to him rather than God. This Mel Gibson film gives God the glory! I should note that it is violent, but not gratuitously violent. Instead, the violence elevates your understanding of the God-inspired heroism of this little man. I highly recommend you see this film, but with the caveat that, for some, it may be too visceral. As we have a young Marine in our family, my wife opted not to see the film. The film opens in theaters today. MORE ANALYSIS FROM THE PATRIOT POST The Sharpest Contrasts Between Clinton and Trump22 — Five issues to think about on November 8. OPINION IN BRIEF David Harsanyi: “If providence (or dumb luck) takes mercy on the Constitution, Washington D.C.’s gridlock — an organic reflection of the nation’s disposition — will remain the status quo. Actually, what am I talking about? That’s exactly what the Constitution was built to do in a divided nation. The situation will render the next president weaker than most and somewhat contain his or her authoritarianism and poor judgment. This kind of frustrating environment is likely to cause more recrimination and, unfortunately, abuses of power that are meant to circumvent the congestion. Still, overall, it’s better than partisan unilateralism. The situation will not change until we find competent people to put into the White House or politicians with ideas that have some crossover appeal. That time is not now. Of course, none of this is to completely diminish the importance of the presidential election. Obviously, voters are making a decision about the future of governance. Judges are at stake. Foreign policy is made. There are consequences. But if the republic can’t survive a bad executive, then it’s already dead.” SHORT CUTS For the record: “This is why you have security protocols — to protect classified information. [Hillary Clinton] exposed it to our enemies, and now … our adversaries have this very sensitive information that not only jeopardizes her and national security at home, but the men and women serving overseas. In my opinion, quite frankly, it’s treason.” —Rep. Michael McCaul, chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee Upright: “In all, an estimated 40 percent of voters will cast ballots before Election Day. And that’s nuts. … Comey’s bombshell is a perfect illustration of how new facts can make a hash of things. … Of course we shouldn’t put up any insurmountable obstacles to voting. But if we want citizens to value their vote, why are we constantly lowering the price?” —Jonah Goldberg Braying Jackass: “Hillary Clinton, having been in the arena for 30 years, oftentimes gets knocked around and people say crazy stuff about her and when she makes a mistake, an honest mistake, it ends up being blown up as if it’s just some crazy thing.” —Barack Obama Fairly unbalanced: “I would rather see Donald Trump’s life end.” —Los Angeles Times reporter Steven Borowiec The BIG Lie: “It is true premiums are going up for a handful of people who don’t get tax credits. That’s important. We’re going to work as hard as we can to do something about it. We would have already done it if the Republicans had helped, but keep in mind their alternative would have been no health insurance. … They want to repeal [ObamaCare] because ideologically they’re opposed to the idea of helping these 20 million people get health insurance.” —Barack Obama And last… “In anticipation of her victory, Hillary Clinton has reportedly planned a fireworks show over the Hudson River for election night. Remember how excited she got over balloons? What’s she going to do if she sees fireworks?” —Seth Meyers Semper Vigilans Fortis Paratus et Fidelis!
