Title: Neighbours
Post by: Gracey on February 26, 2004, 10:12:40 AM
Mat 5:43  Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.

Mat 5:44  But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

I sure wish more of us (me included) could be like that. I'm getting better at it, but since the spirit will be perfecting me til I die, will I ever fully get it? Maybe, there's as much in the "striving" to be like Christ?

Mat 5:46  For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?

Love those who don't love us? Boy, that's a hard one. Without Christ in me, how could I ever do it?

Mar 12:30  And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.

Mar 12:31  And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.

Lord, help me.

Oh yeah, Lord help me, too!

Hear ya Gracey!

Without Christ in us, we can't do it.  Even with Christ in us, sometimes we still fail.  It IS so very difficult.  Every situation is different.  Some may say it's easier for them, yet, they're visualizing THEIR situation which isn't our situation.  Probably the hardest thing for me is separating the action from the person------love the sinner------hate the sin.  Much easier said than done, at least for me, anyway.
