Title: Having A Mary Heart in a Martha World Post by: islandboy on March 20, 2013, 12:53:04 AM My woman's bible Study Group has just started studing this book so I don't have a lot to say about it right now other then it really makes you think about what is important and why.
The book talks about Martha's reaction to Mary sitting at Jesus feet and listening to him speak instead of helping Martha with the getting the house ready for their guests or helping to prepare the evening meal. Martha is upset that she is not getting help and complains to Jesus. He tells her that Mary has made the best choice, which puzzles Martha at first. But she soon gets his meaning. Makes you think how each of us would have acted under those conditions and would we have been a Mary or a Martha? I will write more about this book as we work through it. :) Title: Re: Having A Mary Heart in a Martha World Post by: islandboy on October 17, 2013, 12:26:45 AM TEN SIGNS OF A BIG WORRIER
1. You find you spend much more time in useless, nonconstructive worry than other people you know. 2. People around you comment on how much of a worrier you are. 3. You feel that it is bad luck or tempting fate not to worry. 4. Worry interferes with your work and you miss opportunities, fail to make decisions, or perform at lower than optimal level. 5. Worry interferes with your close relationships and your spouse, and friends sometimes complain that your worrying is a drain on their energy and patience. 6. You know that many of your worries are unrealistic or exaggerated, yet you cannot seem to control them. 7. Sometimes you feel overwhelmed by worry and even experience physical symptoms such as rapid heart rate, rapid breathing, shortness of breath sweating, dizziness, or trembling. 8. You feel a chronic need for reassurance even when everything is fine. 9. You feel an exaggerated fear of certain situations that other people seem to handle with little difficulty. 10. Your parents or grandparents were known as great worriers, or they suffered from an anxiety disorder. Found this in the book and found it to be very helpful in understanding how worrying and anxiety, can take over your life if you don't let go and let God, carry your worries for you. |
