Title: Rock-and-roll Post by: Tibby on February 23, 2004, 03:50:33 PM What are your thoughts on Rock-and-roll Youth Churches? I’m not talking about Youth Rallies, I’m talking about Sunday morning Services. Give your thought, and Scripture if you can. Petro, I'm counting on you, bro ;)

Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power. 2 Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness. 3 Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp. 4 Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs. 5 Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals. 6 Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD. Psa 33:3 Make a new song to him; playing expertly with a loud noise. Psa 100:2 Give worship to the Lord with joy; come before him with a song. Psa 144:9 I will make a new song to you, O God; I will make melody to you on an instrument of ten cords. Isa 44:23 Make a song, O heavens, for the Lord has done it: give a loud cry, you deep parts of the earth: let your voices be loud in song, you mountains, and you woods with all your trees: for the Lord has taken up the cause of Jacob, and will let his glory be seen in Israel. and ditto for the ones posted above. Title: Re:Rock-and-roll Post by: The Crusader on February 24, 2004, 05:23:37 AM I am a DORK Oh NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, I agree with Reba :) Title: Re:Rock-and-roll Post by: NateyCakes on February 24, 2004, 08:40:10 AM Could I get some clarification on "Rock N Roll" churches? I mean are we talking a church with guitars and drums and electric bass? That sort of thing? If so, I don't see a problem with it. Te scripture was used earlier where it says Make a joyful noise unto the Lord & I believe it says David danced.
I know the church I go to is pretty "rockin", lol. I enjoy it. I think praise & worship is a big part of church. I get my feet moving & hands clappin and I just shut my eyes and sing to the Lord regardless how loud the beat & jams may be. Ive been to Brownsville and that place is definately rock n roll, but it was AWESOME & I got a lot out of it. Even through the music alone. :) Just me, I dont see a thing wrong with them. As long as they stay true to the message of Christ & Salvation! ~Natey Title: Re:Rock-and-roll Post by: Reba on February 24, 2004, 11:19:43 AM I am a DORK Oh NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, I agree with Reba :) >:( :P Title: Re:Rock-and-roll Post by: Tibby on February 24, 2004, 02:29:19 PM Could I get some clarification on "Rock N Roll" churches? I mean are we talking a church with guitars and drums and electric bass? That sort of thing? No. Full choirs and organs cost money. Money churches don’t have. Nothing wrong with shelling out 500 for a cheat guitar and leading praise in a smaller church. I’m talking about Literally “Rock music” as the Praise. Where P&W could be confused for a mini-Concert. Or when they take a song that COULD be stretched into a Praise song , like Creed’s “Can you take me higher,” and play that. Where they have sofa’s to sit on, and they take coffee breaks mid-service. Keep in mind, I’m not talking about Friday-night Youth Rallies, I’m talking about the Sunday morning Service. Quote I enjoy it. I think praise & worship is a big part of church. Every since going on the journey, I have learned to take ALL of the service as Praise and Worship. Something about Liturgy is just so beautiful, it is like everything is Praise and Worship. But, that is another topic for another time. Title: Re:Rock-and-roll Post by: NateyCakes on February 24, 2004, 02:33:36 PM Oh I see where your coming from Tibby. Well I certainly dont think singing Creed in church as part of the service is ok. But thats just me. I do know what ya mean tho. Some churches have gotten very secular unfortunately & I could see how some ppl could take it differently. I dont think moshing over the pews is a good church Service either :P
Title: Re:Rock-and-roll Post by: Tibby on February 24, 2004, 02:46:56 PM And all for the sake of Bringing people in, too. Sure, they get “Christians” but at what cost? And what kind of “Christians” will they really be. To the young people this service draws, who see no change in the Church and the world, does this atmosphere inspire a profound change in their lifestyle?
