We're Back in the FIGHT! Bullet Points From the After Action Report By Mark Alexander November 8, 2012 "Honor, justice, and humanity, forbid us tamely to surrender that freedom which we received from our gallant ancestors, and which our innocent posterity have a right to receive from us. We cannot endure the infamy and guilt of resigning succeeding generations to that wretchedness which inevitably awaits them if we basely entail hereditary bondage on them." --Thomas Jefferson (1775) Tuesday, the final ballot-box battle1 to unseat Barack Hussein Obama was narrowly repelled, but in the process, his socialist cadres exposed the full range of weapons and tactics in their arsenal. While our unceasing efforts to defend Liberty would have received an assist by a Romney-Ryan2 victory, our mission in support of Liberty is not predicated upon who sits in the White House or on Capitol Hill. While the Obama-Biden ticket's marginal victory certainly does not constitute a mandate, Obama will pursue his statist agenda3 as if he had won every vote rather than just the slim 50.4 percent majority. His objective remains "fundamentally transforming the United States of America4," and he will pursue the centerpiece of that objective, breaking the back of free enterprise4, with vigor. American Patriots5 across the nation have and will continue to engage his socialist cadres6 every time they step onto the field. Future Battle Bullet Points: Election Results Obama: 60.6 million or 50.4 percent. Romney: 57.8 million, 48.1 percent. Turnout was down 14 million votes and Obama got almost 10 million fewer votes than in 2008. Romney received two million fewer votes than McCain in 2008, but final counts are not in yet. Voter turnout of three Democrat constituencies, black, Latino and 18-30-year-old voters, was up almost 6 percent from average election turnouts in recent decades, and that 6 percent put Obama over the top. Exit polls in key swing states won by Obama indicated that there were significantly fewer votes cast by faith-motivated voters. The GOP Experts Why were seasoned conservative campaign experts completely wrong in their predictions of a big Romney win7 in the closing days of the campaign? Michael Barone declared, "Bottom line: Romney 315, Obama 223." George Will predicted a Romney electoral win of 321-217. Dick Morris foresaw "a massive win for Romney." Ann Coulter determined, "I can't see a scenario where Romney wins less than 273 electoral votes." But what none of the A-team could see was Romney's grassroots deficit. Like Mitt Romney, these erstwhile analysts were, and remain, unwittingly insulated from the reality of grassroots America. From down here at ground level, it was apparent that Team Romney had not embraced the messages needed to draw moderate grassroots Americans to his side of the ledger. The last Republican to succeed in that endeavor was Ronald Reagan8. Weeks ago, Team Patriot prepared and delivered a Memo to Mitt From Grassroots Americans9 to his communications director. Unfortunately, despite repeated efforts, it did not get through the gauntlet of Romney's campaign professionals, who seemed certain that they already had the formula for a victory. Maybe it was the price of our advice that caused them to ignore it -- it was free. Could that grassroots memo have made a difference? Well, a swing of a few hundred thousand votes of the tens of millions cast in swing states would have resulted in a Romney win. Could Romney have won if his campaign had done more to invigorate grassroots voters? We'll never know. Miscellaneous Field Notes So, what's up from here? Here's the short list: Debt, taxes, layoffs, government regulations, health care mandates, welfare, food stamps, government plantation populations, ignorance, inflation (just watch), black socialist, Latino socialist, unmarried female socialist, arrested development adolescent socialist -- and Leftists on the Supreme Court to support all of the above! And a few other things that are up: Submission to China, Russia and Islamofascists, and the threat of another devastating strike by al-Qa'ida on U.S. soil. Apparently, sometimes Obama does tell the truth: "I actually believe in redistribution." A handout is much easier to sell than a hand up, and, frankly, it's remarkable that almost half of American voters still support free enterprise over statist socialist redistribution. Once again, as avowed socialist George Bernard Shaw smugly declared: "A government which robs Peter to pay Paul can always depend on the support of Paul." Obama will use his second term Senate majority to implement gun control measures. Memo to Dianne Feinstein: I recall that the first shots of the American Revolution were to repel government efforts to capture and destroy arms and supplies stored by the Massachusetts militia in the town of Concord. Bring it on! I grieve that our young military men and women will have to continue to salute Barack Obama as their CINC for the next four years, but I remind them that their oath is to "support and defend10" our Constitution, not Obama. Former DemoGogue Chairman Howard Dean declared the only way Obama could lose would be voter fraud. The reality is, he got elected by defrauding voters. There were reasons that our Founders insisted that voters be property owners (tax payers) -- in today's parlance, taxpayers are the only folks with skin in the game. Of course, they revolted over a three-pence tax on tea -- and would most assuredly wonder why Americans have tolerated the oppressive taxes levied today. Most revealing Leftmedia remark on Obama's win: "I'm so glad we had that storm last week because I think the storm was one of those things. ... The storm brought in possibilities for good politics." --MSNBC's Chris Matthews on the benefits of Hurricane Sandy for Obama. That prompted this response from the New York Post: "Millions of his fellow citizens encounter appalling deprivations along the way -- well, to Matthews, they're just eggs to be broken for the Obama omelet. ... Matthews lives in the very rich and overwhelmingly white Maryland township of Chevy Chase -- which makes his pious sermonizing about GOP 'elitism' just another bucket of moral bilge." Get ready for the 2014 midterms! It's a fine thing to live in a region of the nation that consistently supports our Constitution, and more particularly to live in the Great State of Tennessee, where my fellow residents gave Romney 60 percent of the popular vote and secured a supermajority in both chambers of our state legislature who will work well with our Republican governor. The Leftmedia still has election map colors reversed... Red most assuredly should designate those states voting for Obama. In 1860 our nation was divided much along the lines of division we see today. The irony is that then, the conflict was, ostensibly, over those enslaved on rural agricultural plantations. Now the assault on Liberty is led by those enslaved on urban government plantations. I recall these words from fellow Tennessean Nathan Bedford Forrest on the Second War for Independence (as it was known in the South): "I loved the old government. I loved the old Constitution. I do not hate it; I am opposing now only the radical revolutionists who are trying to destroy it." Free enterprise has a powerful ability to improvise, adapt and overcome, and those attributes may spur economic recovery, not because of Obama's socialist policies, but despite his interventionism. I talked to my three backyard mutts about Romney's defeat, and they didn't seem to care. Of course, they're already on the dole -- free food, housing, grooming, toys etc. The Patriot's Effort Your Patriot Team left nothing on the field coming into this election. We were all at our posts with everything we had on Tuesday, and we are all back at our posts loaded for bear Wednesday. I am proud of our team of right-minded folks! Like millions of Patriots, I feel the burden of the larger failures of party and politics on my shoulders -- and not because of pride or because I assume that my words or those of our Liberty journal occupy some grandiose place in history -- but because of my devotion to our Constitution and love for our country. I take this loss very personally. We are a humble grassroots publication, but the enormous number of Patriots we serve form the bedrock foundation for Liberty today, and the best hope for extending Liberty to the next generation. The Fundamentals There will be much analysis about why a majority of Americans have, for a second time, been deceived by a "community organizer" who would be King. Apparently, however, "community organizer" really is the best qualification for a charlatan like Obama, whose election depends on 60 percent of his votes coming from those enslaved on urban government welfare plantations11 and dependent upon statist wealth redistribution. Many will rightly conclude that the collective ignorance displayed Tuesday is the result of the dumbing-down of generations of Americans by government schools -- from K through PhD. Not surprisingly, government schools are the Left's primary institutions for indoctrinating neglected children with the "Marxist Model." "The education of all children," as Karl Marx wrote, "from the moment that they can get along without a mother's care, shall be in state institutions at state expense." Marx's disciple, Vladimir Ilyich Lenin, concurred: "Give me four years to teach the children and the seed I have sown will never be uprooted." How's that working out for the Left? According to Pew Research last year, the 18-29 age group -- that third category of Obama's most loyal constituency which put him over the top -- had a more favorable view of socialism than of capitalism. But government education is only part of the story. The real causal factor underlying the social and cultural degradation, particularly of urban centers, is tied directly to broken homes -- mostly fathers who have failed their families -- and now generations of fathers who know no better. Functional fathering is the family foundation of Liberty12. Democracy begins in the home. Obama's father abandoned him as a child13, and the resulting Narcissistic Personality Disorder14 forms his core identity that attracts tens of millions of his cultish adherents, who are themselves the products of broken families. For them, Obama is the provider they never had, and government is the safe haven they have always desired. Wisdom From Afar One of the first e-mails I received after Romney's defeat was from a Patriot named Stanislav in the Czech Republic. He wrote, "It is now 95 years after the Bolshevik revolution in Russia, allowing the Socialists to reduce that once great nation to an ash heap. I was very disappointed with Obama's reelection. The symbolism with today's win of Barack Hussein Obama is more than significant. I hope the U.S.A is strong enough to resist their continued assaults on the liberty. Socialists have intrinsic defects in character. They are liars. I have lived through the tyranny of socialist regimes, and the American people are staring one in the face. If you want a reflection of America in a few years, look at the bankrupt European socialists." There is no stronger testament regarding the threat Obama poses to Liberty than that provided in this e-mail from a Patriot who has endured socialist oppression for many years. I have a little personal experience with socialist regimes, having been arrested twice (call me a slow learner) in the former USSR while endeavoring to spread the seeds of Liberty among the Russian people. I was given house arrest in 1984 and jailed in 1987. (There was something about walking through seven heavy doors on the way to a deep pit in Moscow's central jail that helped shape my love for Liberty.) From a small window in the location where I was confined under house arrest, I could see a main entrance to the Kremlin. All day there was a constant flow of polished luxury limousines entering and exiting, carrying the privileged members of the political class past those on the streets who couldn't find toilet paper or shoes. I mention this because every time I see that populist potentate Barack Obama15 climbing aboard Air Force One for some taxpayer-funded junket, I see him through the lens of that small window in Moscow. They are not imbued with the spirit of the fight. I have been humbly praying for our country as well, but the words I have chosen are predicated on the notion that unless we reverse the cultural, social and political trends in our country, we are nearing a time characterized by the words of George Washington's trusted general, Rev. Peter Muhlenberg. He took his famous Revolutionary sermon inspiration from the third chapter of Ecclesiastes when saying, "There is a time for all things, a time to preach and a time to pray, but those times have passed away. There is a time to fight, and that time has now come." When writing prayers, we best consider whether our pens are mightier than the swords of our enemies. "Father, I pray that you would provide us leaders in our families, in the church, in government and in enterprise, who fearlessly honor you as the one God above all men, and who love and respect our country and its people as You do. Please bless us with leaders who will uphold the Liberty "endowed by our Creator" in every quarter of our nation, and move to restore our country's standing as a Beacon of Liberty for all people worldwide. God, I pray you strike down evil and raise up good, and give us the courage to support and defend Liberty against all enemies. Please give us leaders who will free our countrymen from the bondage of dependence and servitude, encourage self-reliance, and help us to define our national and individual character through You. Please help us, as Your people, to have grateful hearts reflected by joyful spirits for all You provide. And in all we ask that Your will be done. Amen." Words of Encouragement Patriots, we were dealt an awful body blow on Tuesday, and the odds we face in our quest to restore Liberty and Rule of Law16 enshrined in our Declaration and Constitution may seem insurmountable. However, we can find strength and encouragement in the words from the most noble of Founding Patriots, George Washington17. In 1777, at a very dark moment amid a string of defeats in the first quest for Liberty -- and just before the fall of Philadelphia and the brutal Winter at Valley Forge, Washington wrote one of his generals: "We should never despair, our Situation before has been unpromising and has changed for the better, so I trust, it will again. If new difficulties arise, we must only put forth new Exertions and proportion our Efforts to the exigency of the times." I also recall the words of Thomas Paine from his Revolutionary pamphlet, The American Crisis: "These are the times that try men's souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of his country; but he that stands it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman." When Samuel Adams signed the Declaration, he said, "We have this day restored the Sovereign to whom all men ought to be obedient. He reigns in heaven and from the rising to the setting of the sun, let His kingdom come." Indeed, God is Sovereign in the affairs of men. As for the challenges we face, faithful Patriots, hold fast to this wisdom from James 1:2-4: "Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything." I had hoped today's essay would be the shortest I had ever written, in celebration of a Romney victory. It was going to be two words: "Thank God!" At the end of the day, however, despite the Romney defeat, those two words still sum it all up. Patriots, we have lost a battle -- but not the war. Hold your head high and redouble your courage and resolve. Remain steadfast in your devotion to Liberty and hold the line. As Paine wrote, "Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. ... I love the man that can smile in trouble, that can gather strength from distress, and grow brave by reflection. 'Tis the business of little minds to shrink, but he whose heart is firm, and whose conscience approves his conduct, will pursue his principles unto death." Our fight for the eternal cause of Liberty, as "endowed by our Creator," ends only with our last breath. On behalf of your Patriot Post Team, God bless our great nation and God bless each of you among our Patriot ranks! (Please pray for our Armed Forces standing in harm's way around the world, and for their families -- especially families of those fallen Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines and Coast Guardsmen, who granted their lives in defense of American liberty.)
