Title: Recommended Study Bibles For.............? Post by: saltedog on February 13, 2004, 10:09:46 PM My daughter is 9 years old and we are trying to decide on a bible for her that is easy to understand, contains a lot of life applications and asks thought provoking questions. We have looked at many but want to get some opinions prior to spending the money......

Maybe just simple English. God knew kids would be reading the scriptures. We can be supprised at what they grasp. Title: Re:Recommended Study Bibles For.............? But most of the rest should be fine. It depends, I suppose on your daughter's reading comprehension - at 9 I would have had no problem with the Bible, and certainly not if I had someone to help me with the reading. The Message would probably be the easiest of the lot for her to read - I'm sure I read somewhere that it was written for a sunday school class anyway. We opted for the KJV because it matches Daddy's. ;D However, we did have a hard time finding one that she could grow with and finally found one that we all like. There are so many out there! The one we chose is called "The King James Study Bible for Young Believers"/ Thomas Nelson Bibles (ages 8-12). There are no margin notes, the writing is a bit larger, Christ's words are in red, and it's burgundy like Daddy's.
We were a bit worried about (as Reba noted) the language being difficult, but decided that since Daddy's is KJV, as is our Pastor's, then she would better be able to follow with the same wording. So far, so good! But... there have been numerous times when we had to discuss what certain words mean! For us, it's fun! Anyway, if this is too much information; please accept my apolgies! Post by: Willowbirch on February 15, 2004, 03:21:58 PM We have used the NIV "Adventure Study Bible for kids"...there is a verse highlighted for nearly every page that the child can memorize easily and keep in his heart, as well as projects to teach the child about God and the history of scripture.
There may be "added notes" that some parents might want to correct for their child, but all in all this study Bible was very helpful and exciting. |
