Please correct me here, but originally, wasn't Harvard, some 350 years ago, a training school for ministers?

 Yup most if not all of the  'old' schools were seminaries. Seems christians forget how subbtle sin can be, how it creeps in and brews up the whole batch.

Me thinks we need to fight, first with prayer. I remembering the stories of the battles the "childen of Israel" fought to over come in their travels and land.  The priest were the first out the priests led the march around Jerico. The 'children' obeyed and were blessed. I think we today compermise to much . I  may be wrong but i think you agree.  :)

I am sure, Harvard, Yale, and all that are considered elite top ten colleges, where Roman Catholic seminaries in the begining, and they probaly still pump these liberal arts type religious majors.

Now you know why, we have these problems.

Yep - all the Ivy League schools began as Christian colleges.  Most still have at least a limited study program in Theology.  (Remember - Algore flunked out of one  ;D)  Princeton still has some of our greatest Christian scolars on staff.

When you said Al gore, I remembered Jerry Brown was one of these also.

How scary to think these would or could have been president of this country.

I stand corrected, I apologize for making the statement in my first paragraph above, regarding Harvards an Yales assoociation to the RCC, without corroborating it first.

However, these have produced very few strong vibrant christian theologians, I can't think of one I have ever encountered that preached the word to the masses, or was known in Christian circles as a real mover of mountains.

Why is it, do you suppose??

John Harvard (1607 - 1638) was a Puritan minister who left Emmanuel College in Cambridge, England for America to escape persecution. He bequeathed his fortune to the college at Cambridge, Massachusetts that eventually evolved into Harvard University.


Abraham Pierson was appointed by Yale's original trustees as the first rector (or president) of Yale college, from 1701-1707. He served concurrently as the minister of the Killingworth (now Clinton) Congregational church, where Yale college was based during his tenure.

Gore and Brown in my opinion would not have been any better or worse than some presidents America has chosen.

In my recollection, (I've only been around since Eisenhower) we've had two completely inept presidents and one total failure.  The rest could have been any political persuasion – wouldn’t have mattered and still doesn’t.  Of the presidents in my time, all claimed to be Christian, one was ordained – and there is only one who, although I can’t read what is in his heart – seemed to use an oversized bible with a big gold cross on it as a prop, as necessary, between ‘trysts’.  
I’ve read at least a little history about them all, and according to what I’ve read and what I’ve read between the lines – Reagan prayed the most and Clinton prayed he wouldn’t get caught the most.  ;D
