Title: Brigadoon Post by: Symphony on February 11, 2004, 11:41:56 PM Anyone here seen it, or like it? Or know the story? I just finished watching the 1953 version, on video. With Gene Kelly, Cid Cheresse(sp), Van Johnson. Title: Re:Brigadoon Post by: sincereheart on February 18, 2004, 07:14:33 AM Never heard of it.... :-X
Should I look into it? I'd hate to miss out on a good one! ;) Title: Re:Brigadoon Post by: Symphony on February 23, 2004, 12:45:46 AM It had to grow on me. I really like it now. Van Johnson's a sight. ;) It's a musical--singing and dancing. But pretty good quality. "Brigadoon" is a village in the Scottish Highlands; once every hundred years it reappears, whihc just happens to be when two hotshot hunters over from NYC stumble upon it. ONe of them falls in love with one of the lasses...but then, the village will disappear... :'( It tells the story behind why it disappears. As usual, I see something evangelical in it...about how human beings are. ;D But then, I'm usually a sucker for romances. It's not really a chick flick--more family. It's mostly about the two hunters. But, this is one of the few movies I've seen that actually gets better as it moves along. The ending, in the NYC nightclub is perfect. Reminds me of the famous barroom scene in the first Star Wars. :-X there's one dance scene between Kelly and charisse that to me is corny. But that was Gene Kelly--an economics major from Princeton who decided to give it a go in dance, instead. This was during a five-year stint where he was trying to make "dance" an accepted film attraction(his big hit was Sing'n in the Rain) for Hollywood. But he was good, that's vor sure. It's a fun film. Nice music. Title: Re:Brigadoon Post by: LMarsh on February 24, 2004, 01:37:41 PM My all time favorite movie. And though I don't own it yet....my children know alot of the songs because my husband and I sing them around the house once in a while.
Its one of his favorites as well. LMarsh Title: Re:Brigadoon Post by: ollie on February 25, 2004, 11:52:15 AM Anyone here seen it, or like it? Or know the story?
