Title: Prenuptials? Post by: Symphony on January 30, 2004, 04:27:50 PM What do you think about prenuptial agreements, before entering into marriage? If marriage is suppose to be "true-love", can it really be "true-love", if there's a prenuptial? Wouldn't a prenuptial be a condition, and wouldn't that then be "conditional" love...?? Title: Re:Prenuptials? Post by: JudgeNot on January 30, 2004, 04:42:22 PM You certainly SHOULD sign a prenuptial. To God, with your pastor as the witness, that clearly states until death do you part, and you will live as one, with all things shared.
(Just my humble opinion.) :) Title: Re:Prenuptials? Post by: ebia on January 30, 2004, 05:01:17 PM You certainly SHOULD sign a prenuptial. Isn't that all covered in the wedding ceremony?(Just my humble opinion.) :) Title: Re:Prenuptials? Post by: JudgeNot on January 30, 2004, 05:16:29 PM Quote Isn't that all covered in the wedding ceremony? Exactly my point, dear ebia, exactly my point. To me a prenuptial agreement is very ‘secular’ and is a sign you plan to fail. Title: Re:Prenuptials? Post by: Brandie on January 30, 2004, 05:20:21 PM Prenups...if you can't trust the one you're planning to marry pack up and run away as fast as you can...just my two cents, y'know!
My mom used to say to my dad (being facetious, of course, pulling his leg) "What's yours is mine and what's mine is mine anyway". In marriage, that should be "What's yours is mine and what's mine is yours." And now, you've had your daily dose of down-home country sayings! Title: Re:Prenuptials? Post by: Symphony on January 31, 2004, 10:54:40 AM I like down-home county sayings..., Brandie :) is a sign you plan to fail. Boy, that's well put, JN. That was sorta my thinking. Like snow skiing, "Don't aim for that tree!", someone yells. So sure enough, you aim for it. ::) :-\ Title: Re:Prenuptials? Oklahoma Howdy to Brandie, :D Thanks, I needed that laugh. I also like your description of what to do if either party to a proposed marriage feels a need for a prenuptial agreement. It takes two for entry into a Holy bond of marriage, and it also takes two in complete agreement that Christ will be the head of the home and marriage. The bond and agreement must be in Christ, not the civil laws of man. I think it is an absolute duty of a pastor to counsel with those who wish to be married about what a real marriage is with Christ as the head of the home. Further, I think that the pastor should refuse those who are not willing or ready to submit to Christ in a Holy bond. Brandie, that was a fabulous two cents worth. :D Love In Christ, Tom Title: Re:Prenuptials? Post by: FBI78 on February 04, 2004, 01:15:12 PM I dont think you should sign one. The whole point of marriage is to stay commited to the person forever. IF you are signing one you are already looking for trouble in your marriage by signing saying you dont know if it will last. I mean if you dont think it will last what is the point of getting married to that person.
