I was talking with a friend yesterday and I just wanted to share a few thoughts on something that she said.

"God works through imperfect people, or what I often call " jars of clay" or "cracked pots" ( 1 Cor.1 ) This means that we are all flawed, so when people look at us and see amazing things happening, they know that God must be at work because without Him, we certainly could not achieve or accomplish what we do."

How right she is. We are all imperfect in so many different ways. Many of us have physical imperfections to one extent or another. We also have character and spiritual flaws to some degree. We are unable to walk a perfect walk as hard as we may try. To one degree or another we will invariably slip up, sometimes without even being aware of it. That is what makes the need for a relationship with Jesus Christ so important for only He is perfect. Only He is righteous and therefore worthy enough to enter Heaven. Praise God that He is also merciful enough to accept our imperfections, to have covered our unrighteousness with His righteousness.

As badly cracked a vessel as we might be we can also be a useful tool for Him to benefit others at the same time we are benefiting from it. It doesn't take work on our part. Simply turn to Him and let Him continue the marvelous works in us that He has started.

I'm a badly "cracked pot" in many ways, but God loves me anyway. I'm not worthy to speak His Holy Name, but I can because Jesus Christ is my Lord and Saviour. I give thanks that Jesus Christ has saved me from the curse of sin and death, and His Blood is my atonement (at-one-ment).

It's often the cracked pots that are blessed by God - they do not exalt themselves and instead allow God to take full control.
