Title: Boy Oh Boy Do I Looove People
Post by: I Brake for Jesus on January 28, 2004, 01:55:08 PM
It makes me sad, it really does.

So many people to reach, so little time.

I get so discouraged. They don't seem to understand that the way they're living their lives isn't working!

But, do we help?

2 Commandments: love the Lord your God with all your heart and soul and mind (this is paraphrased, of course) and love your neighbor as yourself. And we. don't. do. it.

I've always been one to believe that Christians will be judged more harshly than nonbelievers, only in our case we can't lose our rewards. We KNOW the truth, and yet we continue to sin. We continue to hate, and it's disgusting.

Sometimes I just wanna abandon the world and its people (especially the Christians!) and go.. I don't know.. buy my own island and never have to deal with human interaction ever again. I'll.. I don't know.. I'll send my pet monkey to do my bargaining.. or something.

But no, I cannot, because the Lord has given me work to do, which I need to do gladly.

It's. Just. So. Frustrating.

Can you see it? Can you see the frustration in my sentence fragments?

 >:(

Why do we argue? Seriously. Arguing is POINTLESS. Because people are people and they're not gonna give in.

So like, I was on this on Christian forum from like gee I donno.. May to like, yesterday. I had to get out of there. It's disgusting!

And you know what else really bothers me? People who take things out of context. There's this one issue that the Jenn Jenn (and yes she refers to herself in 3rd person) holds very near and dear to her heart, and it's women and God. Seriously, I read verses like the ones in 2 Timothy and just cry. I know, I know, it's all cultural. I know that just cause some people are dumb doesn't mean I have to be, but it's so emotionally draining. And like Gideon I'm cryin out to God saying, "Are you sure this is what you want ME to do?". God has called me into ministry. I must fulfill what He has asked.

Enough ranting. Thanks to those who read. Time for me to go back to the Flu.  :(

Thank you, I Brake.   I know you're frustrated, but I know you have the will to go on in our Lord Jesus Christ.  And we praise His Name for it.

Ugh! Flu! I'd rant too. Hope you get better!

I'm not sure what's going on in your life, or what kind of "arguing" you've been going through. There's at least two kinds of arguments (between Christians), maybe there are others but I'm too lazy to think of them.

1. Discussions with the main point of building others up in Christ by patching broken walls or tearing them down altogether. This type of argument, in order to achieve its purpose, must be guided by God and not our own opinions.

2. Another kind of argument goes more under the title of "quarreling", and I think this is the one you're mad at. Its when we charge forward on our own steam and try to change people, or at least prove we're right. When two "opinions" clash between brethren, its devastating, whereas a Spirit-guided argument will have the effect either of warning (so that someone can flee a sin), or encouragement.

Yes-absolutely. Good points all. Wow, Willow-good observation-good distinction. Plus I think motive also plays a large role in the difference between the two.  :)
