Care Net Launches Inspire Life Campaign Aimed at Growing 'Compassion Wing' of Pro-Life Movement

LANSDOWNE, VA, (christiansunite.com) -- This fall, Care Net, a national network of more than 1,170 pregnancy centers, has launched the "Inspire Life" campaign, a new, web- based effort to counter the changing political climate by energizing the pro-life movement and raising up more volunteers for local pregnancy centers.

"Something exciting is happening in America when, despite the political changes in Washington, more people are now identifying themselves as 'pro-life'," said Care Net President Melinda Delahoyde. "The problem is that not everyone knows how they can get involved. The goal of the Inspire Life campaign is to point individuals to the compassionate, outreach work of pregnancy centers."

This month, Delahoyde was asked by Christianity Today to respond to the question, "In light of the political change in Washington, what's the best action for pro-life Christians to take next?" Her response -- "volunteer at a pregnancy center."

Delahoyde said, "It's easy to feel powerless to effect change in the political arena. Yet each of us has the power to inspire life every day by simply offering grace and support to women facing unplanned pregnancies... What the pro-life movement must do next is foster an explosion of people who do just this."

The Inspire Life campaign is centralized on the web at www.inspirelifenow.org as well as on Blogger , Facebook, and Twitter. News and information is pushed to members to spread virally to encourage new people, particularly a younger generation, to "inspire life" locally and to catch the vision for what the movement is doing nationally.

With more than 40,000 volunteers a year, according to the latest national report on pregnancy centers, A Passion to Serve, A Vision for Life, the movement is strong and growing; however, with most of its funding coming from private donations, the pregnancy center movement still needs greater support and more volunteers.
