You may find this hard to believe at this point but i was serious. :) The cry Sola Scripture rings i my ears. When we read His Word HE makes it alive to us. Reading the many different translations seems to be helpful. Exhaust the Word then move to the commentaries. Matt Henry is a good commentator, very dry but good. Seriously though Phil, I've always enjoyed Warren Wiersbe's commentaries, or John MacArther. They're pretty good.
