Title: Never fear, Duke's here!!! LOL
Post by: Dukefan1907 on February 16, 2009, 05:36:57 PM
Hello to one and all.

I'm Duke.
I'm from the south and I love Jesus!!!

I enjoy Duke movies, Lady Vols basketball, and hunting and fishing (as in Hunting another John Wayne movie and Fishing the remote outta the couch cushions!!  LOL)

I am Southern Baptist by denomination, but was raised Pentecostal and still hold to many of their teachings; I guess you could call me a Bapti-Costal!!

My aim in life is to be a nail in a sure place for those in need, a word in season for others, and to share the love, hope, peace and joy of Jesus Christ.
To be the best husband, poppa and friend that I can be.
And to handle every situation in life with the love, grace and mercy of God, and the power of the Holy Ghost.

I hope to make many new friends and acquaintances here.

Until we meet there, I'll meet you here.
God Bless!
Duke

Hello Duke,

WELCOME!

:D  I loved your introduction. I sincerely hope that you enjoy Christians Unite, and I look forward to having fellowship with you.

We don't do denominations here. JESUS CHRIST is who binds us together. I'm one of the resident grandpas here from Southwest Oklahoma, and I also enjoy the old shows that are completely clean. I don't watch television very much, but I do watch a few old things that catch my attention from time to time - including the old John Wayne Westerns, the Three Stooges, and the Old Cartoons. I watch enough news to make me sick about all the things that are happening right now, and then I turn it off. There is peace, order, and comfort in GOD, so I spend most of my time in doing Bible Studies and Christian volunteer work. I'm retired and disabled - SO, I can do whatever I want to. So far, it's all legal.

Love In Christ,
Tom

Hello Duke,

Welcome to Christians Unite forums.

I kinda like the old Duke movies myself. Old movies like that has much more of the concern and display of God given morality.

Thank you for the warm welcomes!!

B-E-P,
I agree with you, I'm not much into denoms either.
As Christians, we should have fellowship with one another regardless of church affiliation.
When we start shunning one another or arguing over our POV's then we've lost the
meaning of the cross and are in danger of losing the power of God.

I really laughed at your comment, "so far it's all been legal"  LOL
Glad to hear that you've managed to stay on the right side of the law thus far!

As for Duke, I enjoy all of his movies, BUT the early ones tend to be my favorites as he was
still trying to prove that he was capable of being a true artist.
AND as Pastor Roger wrote, they are far less violent and vulgar than his later films and DEFINITELY mild
compared to most of the movies now days.

For more of my story, check out my topic in the testimonies area.

;D  I find many things today hard to believe. I was actually thinking about folks talking about outlawing the Bible and trying to stop the work of the LORD in the name of "political correctness". If I'm still here when that time comes, I'll be an outlaw.

Yes, should that sad day ever come, I believe there will be many an outlaw.
Let us pray it is postponed and work for the night is at hand.
