Title: The Next Life Post by: Danny C on December 29, 2008, 08:17:13 PM As a christian I know that I will not have to face God's wrath but my earthly dad is diferrent, he died an atheist and so he is destined for Hell. I have heard two thoughts on this. One is that it is eternal torment and the other that even here God's mercy will shine through and it will the second death - eternal oblivion, nothingness for evermore.
In the next life God will remove all sorrow and saddness and grief. My question is (and I know it is a difficult one) will we still remember this life and how will I, and many more like me, cope knowing my dad is where he is? Yes, those that reject God will face eternal torment. That is a choice that each of us must make. The scripture that you reference in regards to no more sorrow is Rev 21:4. That verse also tells us that we will not remember this world nor the sadness that is attached to it. Rev 21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. I know it is hard to understand how we could forget the ones we love. I do have a question of my own. Will God remember them? There is nothing in scripture that I myself am aware of that speaks on Him forgetting nor remembering those that were cast into the lake of fire after that point. |
