I responded to a poll some time ago that Jim DeMint, Senator from South Carolina had posted. Since then I have received many emails from him and his office all on various subjects pertaining to bills presented to Congress even though he is not a Senator of the state that I live in. The following is the most recent one I have received and wanted to share with all. I pray that we have more politicians in office with this man's moral sensibility.

Dear Friends,

2008 has presented many joys for our family, including the wedding of our youngest daughter and the anticipation of the arrival of our second grandchild.  However, it has also been a year of great uncertainty in our world.  Soaring energy prices, continuing war and crashing economies have taken their toll on families all around South Carolina and the nation.

But as we pause with those we love to contemplate the meaning of this holiday season and the dawning of 2009, we are reminded to be thankful that our salvation does not rest in politicians, governments, or economies.  True hope and freedom is only found in a Power higher than ourselves:  may we all increasingly rely on His love, grace and truth to sustain and guide us through the coming year.
