I was somewhat startled when a fellow believer told me that during the 9/11 disaster he felt impressed to pray for God. He said he could just visualize Him looking down from heaven and having to view the hofrrific trajedy that was taking place.

Any thoughts about this?

Who was he going to pray to?

I suppose one could pray to one person of the trinity for another person of the trinity.

Yeah. Does he think prayers magically answer themselves? God answer them prayers. When you pray for someone, God sees that the needs or met. I think God can take care of himself without us telling him.

On top of that, you friend said we should pray for God, who had to look down at the clowns and see the horror of 9-11? Did he forget WHO he is praying to? God is everywhere. We are talking about someone who looked down on the Earth and sees every horrific sins. He watched Manson, Jack the Ripper, and Damher all commit their crimes, down to the last drop of blood that was spilled. He has seen acts of torture in the deepest, darkest pits that we have never even imaged. He has seen every war that has happened and will happen. 9-11 was bad, but trust me, God has seen worst.

We must also remember that God lives out side of time. 9-11 has always happened.  9-11 is new to us, he has known about it for eternity. He has always lived, and as he lived, he has always known about 9-11. God wasn’t surprised by 9-11.

I think your friend is personifying God WAY to much. But, his heart is in the right place, even if he is a little off. I'm sure a sweet heart like that is just as special to God.
