I do not debate much anymore because Christains can get upset and become discombobulated in the body of Christ  Ephesians 2:19-22 says, "Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints, and of the household of God; And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jjesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;  In whoom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto a holy temple in the Lord:  In whom ye also are builded together for a habitation of God through the Spirit."

Healthy debate is good as long as Christian love and grace are practiced by both debaters.  If we debate and divide the body of Christ over trivial matters and personal isssues, it is a bad testimony to the world that we do not truly love one another!

I agree that a healthy debate is good as long as Christian love and grace are practiced as you said.  And it can be fun and informative.  But don't confuse the word debate with argue.  An arguement is never good and could cause division and would not be a good testimony at all.  Is that what you were saying?  If so, I certainly agree with you.

Yeah, that is what I meant.  Arguing is for the devill's crowd.  Discussing issues in Chrisitian charity is healthy and edifying to the body of Christ.

The word "debate" (in my opinion) is just another word for argue, because that's what it generally turns into--an argument. Both sides are convinced that they are right, and they go into the "debate" with the attitude of "I'm going to prove to him/her that I am right." Seldom is anything worthwhile accomplished. The "debate" goes on and on with neither side giving an inch. I will generally give my thoughts on it and then bow out once I realize that I wasted my time.
