Title: America Post by: HisDaughter on August 05, 2008, 02:39:08 PM Is America mentioned in the Bible? Why or why not?
Title: Re: America Post by: Soldier4Christ on August 05, 2008, 03:24:30 PM I don't see the U.S. mentioned anywhere in scripture. If it is mentioned it is so obscure that it cannot be definitely defined as the U.S. There are some that try to line it up as being "Mystery Babylon" but this just doesn't fit what we know of the U.S. today even though the U.S. has taken a dramatic change from what it once was. There are many others that fit the description of Mystery Babylon much closer than the U.S.
One surmise (and that is all it currently is) is that the U.S. will be destroyed in some manner or that it will be another nation altogether by being united with others. The only mention that I personally think the U.S. might be mentioned in is where the Bible tells us that all nations will go against Israel and that is only if the U.S. still exists at that time. Title: Re: America Post by: Rhys on August 05, 2008, 09:12:16 PM America is declining fast and will likely have become irrelevant.
Title: Re: America Post by: nChrist on August 07, 2008, 03:45:49 AM I don't see America being mentioned at all in the Holy Bible. In fact, nations having roles during the Tribulation Period have been identified easily as already being existent during the time that most of the Bible was written. Many of the ancient cities and nations mentioned in the Holy Bible are still in existence today - some by the same name and some by names that can be easily traced back to ancient names also mentioned in the Holy Bible. The ancient Roman Empire was a major entity during the time JESUS CHRIST walked this earth. Bible Prophecy makes it clear that a revived Roman Empire will be a major entity again during the Tribulation Period. The revived Roman Empire is getting stronger as we speak, and it's called the European Union. Ancient maps easily identify other major players of the Tribulation Period, and NONE of them are America. As an example, Russia and China are easily identified in Bible Prophecy. Careful study of Bible Prophecy indicates quickly that ancient empires and entities have ALL of the major roles in Bible Prophecy yet to be fulfilled.
I would quickly agree with statements already made in this thread. America will either be destroyed or otherwise become irrelevant for future Bible Prophecy. Regardless, no power will be able to slow, hasten, stop, or change anything that GOD has Promised will happen. Most of the world will most definitely come against TINY Israel and try to wipe it off the face of the map. America is a long-term ally of Israel. Will America fight on the side of Israel during the massive WARS mentioned in Bible Prophecy? Only GOD knows. It's quite possible that America will cease to be a world power before the biggest wars in the history of mankind. Only GOD knows. Love In Christ, Tom Christian Quotes 205 - "Has it ever occurred to you that one hundred pianos all tuned to the same fork are automatically tuned to each other? They are of one accord by being tuned, not to each other, but to another standard to which each one must individually bow. So one hundred worshippers meeting together, each one looking away to Christ, are in heart nearer to each other than they could possibly be were they to become ‘unity’ conscious and turn their eyes away from God to strive for closer fellowship. Social religion is perfected when private religion is purified. The body becomes stronger as its members become healthier. The whole church of God gains when the members that compose it begin to seek a better and a higher life." -- A.W. Title: Re: America Post by: HisDaughter on August 07, 2008, 09:51:09 AM I think we all agree. I don't think America will be here. The land may be, but it won't be the United States of America. It will probably be the Unholy Nation of Islam or something.
As much as I would like to think that we would be an ally of Israel, I don't think we will. At least not one that would/could matter or make a difference or we'd be mentioned as a friend in the Bible in some kind of way. If Obama wins this election, I will take it as definite sign that we are in the end times and at the beginning of the tribulation and would expect to be air lifted out of here at any moment. |
