Title: Reverse Speech Post by: paquita on December 31, 2003, 02:40:07 AM Hey Everyone. I'm new here and I joined because I have a question. Now I'm not sure if this is the correct section to ask it in, but here it goes: Today I was listening to Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeplin because I like the guitar part in the beginning. Well I heard that there are messages that can be heard, supposedly satanic messages, when the song is played backwards. So, I downloaded the song backwards and heard a few things. Anyways so I have been captivated by the subject these past few hours and have researched reverse speech on the internet. I've read articles and listened to interviews with the Ramseys and songs and such. My question is: Is this an okay subject for a Christian to be involved with. It suppossedly is what our subconscious is thinking and we all speak this way and have from infancy. It's questionable just because of its sensitive nature. But if anyone seriously has a comment I'd be glad to hear it. Thank you!
Title: Re:Reverse Speech Post by: Whitehorse on December 31, 2003, 04:26:01 PM Well, it's kind of fun to have a mystery and see if you can figure out what it says, and to find out if all the rumors really are true. I used to do that, too, when I was in high school.
The problem is, it exposes us to music that doesn't do us too many favors. There is a lot of music out there that is very well-crafted, but it doesn't lead our thinking to the throne of God. In fact, it can do the opposite even if we really just like the music. The accusations against some of this music is that it is satanic, even, hence the reason for the backmasking. But the music sounds good. And it can eventually influence the way we think and the choices we make. Personally, I'd avoid it. It isn't worth the risk, and it may possibly open you up to spiritual influences. Instead, I'd pick something I like even better. (I picked hiking.) Title: Re:Reverse Speech Post by: Tibby on December 31, 2003, 05:17:20 PM Don't worry, it is a crappy urban legend. I know we took the song, played it backwards, and found nothing but gibberish. Granted, the tune is kind of creepy when played backwards, but so what? It is just silliness. We are talking about stoned junkies with guitars here, I don't think they would have the capacity to write lyrics that are coherent either way you play it? It was no doubt equally as stoned junkies with a hi-tech stereo who played the song backwards and thought they heard the messages.
Even if this is the case, Experts say it would be imposable for any sort of message to get thru to you, with the music playing that overlaps it, because Subliminal messages are generally ineffective, and most importantly, you are listening to it backwards!!!!!! DL the instamental version, if all you like it the tune, or learn the guitar, it isn't the hardest riff in the world to play. It is right up there with "Mary had a little lamb" and "Smells like teen spirit" Quote I downloaded the song backwards and heard a few things. Did you mean you accually DLed it in the backwards? As in, the downloaded a backwards version of the song? Hey, all of this is pointless, because the important thing is the song sounds AWSOME when played on a mandolin ;D ;D ;D ;D Title: Re:Reverse Speech Post by: Symphony on December 31, 2003, 06:35:52 PM Well, there's one for and one against... :-\ Title: Re:Reverse Speech Post by: Allinall on January 02, 2004, 06:48:43 AM I tend to think this passage sort of answers that, for me at least:
Quote As I urged you when I was going to Macedonia, remain at Ephesus that you may charge certain persons not to teach any different doctrine, nor to devote themselves to myths and endless genealogies, which promote speculations rather than the stewardship from God that is by faith. The aim of our charge is love that issues from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith. 1 Timothy 1:3-5 We spend alot of time on meaningless notions, worrying if they are, or aren't acceptable. Stick to the truth of God's word, and don't get all caught up in those things that "promote speculations." :) |
