Title: Banning Christmas
Post by: Symphony on December 23, 2003, 05:24:50 PM

Do you think Christmas will successfully be banned in coming years?

Some excerpts from John Leo's U.S. News column this week(12/29, p 6):

"Foiling Those Evil Grinches"

"How goes the annual battle to delete Christmas from schools and th public square?  News is mixed, but on the whole, things are not going well for the Grinches..."

"Some spoilsports want to ban Christmas carols andHanukkah songs from schools."

"At Central Michigan University, the affirmative action office warned Christians that Christmas 'may be offensive to others within a place of employment.' No such warning was issued about the dangers of Hanukkah or Kwanzaa..."

"The McElwains wonder how Congress's 'Capitol Christmas Tree' morphed into a generic 'Capitol Holiday Tree.' Good question.  The language change appeared in the 1990s, but the far-flung investigative staff of this column has not been able to locate any announcement, news story, or authorization for the change.  The architect fo the Capitol's office is responsible for the tree, but a spokeswoman there said she couldn't find anything in writing about the change, who did it, or when it occurred."

From what I’ve seen in this forum, those who call them selves Christians are even really to jump on the ACLU band wagon! When we have non-Christians who want to rid the country of Christmas, and Christians who want to rid the world of Christmas. I’d say, yes, it is a very real possibility.

However, lower-class minorities and middle-class fundies do not run this country. Corporations run the country. And these Corporations make boat loads of cash when Christmas comes around. If they have anything to say about it, and they do, Christmas will only get more expensive, and more popular.

Fear not:
God's will be.

One can be God's with or with out Christmas.

All one needs is Jesus Christ.
