Title: Resurrection Post by: dan p on May 05, 2008, 03:05:14 PM I wish I could Iwote thsi following article. Be it is very fascinating to me. 2 Peter 3:8 reads But beloved be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years , and a thousand years as one day. When our Lord was in the grave for 3 days it was as 3000 yrs.He followed the sinful course of earth for 3000 yrs and He burned up the heaven and earth ( the solar system ) by casting it into the lake of fire ( the sun ) ( Rev 20 : 10 to 21:1 ) Death and hell were cast therein , as also the Devil and his angels, for whom that lake of fire was prepared ( Matt 25: 41 ). Then , having abolished sin and having made the new heaven and earth , He arose the dat according to the scripture ( 1 Cor 15: 1-4 ) The caution in 2 Peter 3:8 that we should not be ignorant, suggests literal interpretation. It does not mean God's time is unknowingly different from ours, or that God's does not exist with in time. 2 Peter 3:8 is about 3 dimensions, or domains, of time. A 1000 yrs are about 360,000 days. Therefore the 3 domains of time are : (1) 360,000 times faster than earths time (2) earths time (3) 360,000 times slower than earths time. 1 Cor 15:3-4 I believe we can quote it, thus the riddle , How did Christ die foe our sins whe the penalty is death and eternal torment in hell ? is solved ! He died in our place and He went to hell in our place , for eternity !
Title: Re: Resurrection Post by: Brother Jerry on May 05, 2008, 03:25:03 PM First off Dan you math is completely off. 1000 years is not "about" 360,000 days...it is 365,000 days, not counting leap years by our current calendar systems. To be exact it would be 365,250 days even by the calendar systems used 2000 years ago.
Also if Jesus were in the grave for 3000 years then he would still be there today. You simply cannot try and take the "day is 1000 years" bit and apply it to everything. This was a reference and to show an example that to God time is irrelevant. We cannot conceive of living 1000 years. And if we could it would seem like 1000 years....but to a timeless God it is but a blink... And the part about Jesus sitting in Hell is purely false and without any sort of foundation. Who did Steven see just before his death in Acts? Acts 7:55 But being full of the Holy Spirit, he gazed intently into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God; If Jesus died and went to hell to atone for our sins then how could Steven have seen him? Matter of fact how could Jesus have come to Paul on the road to Damascus? No Jesus is not in Hell. Jesus is in heaven preparing us a place. John 14:2-3 In My Father's house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also. This is purely false summarizations Dan and I would strongly urge you to read further and seek answers to your apparent questions before you espouse this sort of false doctrine. Title: Re: Resurrection Post by: Soldier4Christ on May 05, 2008, 04:54:54 PM I feel very sorry for the person that did write this. They are indeed a very confused person and one that knows virtually nothing of scripture. Christ in hell for eternity? DEFINITELY NOT!
Brother Jerry has given some excellent advise on this. It would be wise for you to heed. Title: Re: Resurrection Post by: dan p on May 05, 2008, 05:52:42 PM I got some in put really fast. I did not write this and wanted to see what your input would be. I can not answer for him, but his reference to hell , probably is taken from Eph 4: 9 There is some people who have written some articles , is God cnstrained in time ot some what similar , and wanted your reaction.
Title: Re: Resurrection Post by: Soldier4Christ on May 05, 2008, 07:07:22 PM No He is not constrained in time but if we look at the rest of scripture we can see how wrong this teaching is. Scriptures tell us that He overcame death. If He were in hell for eternity then that means that He didn't overcome death. Eternity is forever. If it took 3,000 years then the rest of scripture telling us He is already sitting in heaven is wrong and so is the scripture that tells of His second coming.
Title: Re: Resurrection Post by: David_james on May 05, 2008, 07:14:52 PM Amen Brother Roger!
Jesus was never in hell. He went to paradise. Title: Re: Resurrection Post by: phillip on May 07, 2008, 09:12:54 PM When our Lord died, He went to the"spirits in prison" in paradise to tell them that He was the Messiah who came to die for the sins of mankind. After His resurrection, He took the souls of those who died in Him in the Old Testament to heaven to be with Him forever. He never went to hell; therefore, that doctrine is pure baloney! Read the Word, and I will pray that God will put you into contact with a godly preacher who understands and teaches the Word!
