My Mariner's Opening Day is this Monday. I'm bummed that I don't get to go but I will be there on Wed. or Thurs. Safco Field is within walking distance of me!! Can YOU beat that?? So this is where we will meet to brag or ask for prayer, as the case may be for our teams! Let's be nice here, but I will warn you: I've been told that I'm competitive. I stayed until the top of the 8th and the the score was STILL 1-1. By the time I get home it's 3-3! They are still playing the bottom of the 9th and Texas is ahead 5-4! Good Grief. I would've stayed the whole game but those bleachers in the cheap seats are HARD and my hip has had a pinched nerve in it for a week. Poor old Grammyluv!

Original minor team of some of the greats like Jose Conseco, Barry Bonds, Sammy Sosa, Mark McQuire.... And they all played during the same year.... that was the first year of Joe Davis Stadium.... I was selling peanuts down the isles.... that was an awesome job...got to watch a game and make money too.

Beautiful country but too hot for a Northwesterner! Same thing when I lived in Arizonia! We Northerners like things nice and cool and are absolutely dying if the temp gets near or over 90! And one can't afford to "buy" fish here either. It's not like we have to import it. But if you're looking for clean running water....we've got so many lakes, rivers and streams here. Come on up! The fishing is great! And my fish story? Once I reeled in this monster trout. The thing was huge! Caught it on a treble hook, but some how while scooping him up in the net and him flopping around so much, I got one of the hooks right through the webbing between my thumb and forefinger! Well my husband, took a pair of needlenose and pulled it out backwards lickety split. I didn't feel a thing. That big ol' fish was just as quiet and still the whole time my husband did that. And the fish was so big; really nothing short of a small salmon, so I took and made a "salmon" loaf out of him and took it to a potluck! I never got stuck with a hook but my son did. He pulled back on a line to set the hook in a fish that took the bait. Instead the hook came flying back at him and set in the back of his shoulder. He pulled it out himself.
We also caught a cat once and not the fish type. My son came home from fishing and left his poles with hooks and lures still attached by the back door. I was awakened to a horrible lot of noise in the house. One of the lures was minnow with all kinds of hooks on it. I guess the cat thought it was a real minnow and tried to eat it. He drug that pole all round the house making a real big mess and breaking a lot of things along the way. The hook was set pretty deeply in it's mouth. A lot of scratches and 15 minutes later I finally got it out with just a small hole in it's cheek that healed nicely. The cat was fine but it wouldn't eat fish after that. I didn't get to a single game last year because of financial trouble but I sure am hoping that I can take my grandson this year or even just go to some games myself! I LOVE Safeco Field! Now, I'm not one of those that can quote you all the scores and players or what position certain teams are holding on any given day, but I love going to the games or watching them on TV if I can't be there. And if the Mariners "happen" to win, I'm not above throwing it in your face! I know, I know.....it doesn't happen that often, but a new season always brings new hope with it! PLAY BALL!
