Title: Life lessons Post by: Tibby on December 11, 2003, 04:43:59 PM You know, my retired pastor is a good ol’ penta-Baptist boy. He played football all thru high school(remimber, this is East Texas, football is second only the Infalable Baptist Church ;D ). Then, he went on to play for the 49ers. He hurt his knees and had to retire early. Then joined the army and played for some Military league! Every sermon, he will have at least one football analogy. Since we are using football analogies to describe the crucifixion of Christ anyway, let’s talk about Lesson we learn is sports that relate to our lives, that we have carried over into life.
Health, well-being, work ethic, etc, and maybe some more spacific examples, too. Amen, Brother!! ;D Hey, this is a good post, Tibby. 'Sorry to keep you hang'n(hehe). One I like, which is probably common to any sport using a ball ( ::)), is, "Keep your eye on the ball." In golf, though you were hit'n it straight down the fairway, you didn't look at that. You kept your eye on the ball. That for me is the same as keeping my "eye", on the good news, on Jesus Christ, in the Word; who I am(or, more accurately, who I am not :-[), and what I, or we, are here to do. In other words, what God expects from us. :) Title: Re:Life lessons Post by: Tibby on December 26, 2003, 01:54:15 AM Good post. Almost as good as football!

No, I feel pretty guilty out chasing a ball around the linx. But I enjoy watching golf on TV--very contemplative, peacefull, thoughtful.. I like that. :) The only sport I like watching(on TV). Tibby, you're nineteen, and you're getting too old for football? I hate to see how it'll be at 25! ;D Maybe golf, huh. ::) Title: Re:Life lessons Post by: ollie on December 30, 2003, 08:55:34 AM Thanks, sincere. Gotta stretch those miuscles out and get them loose and limber or they will tighten up and hurt at any age when exercised. George Blanda played in the NFL till He was 50 or 51. There is hope for a 19 year old. |
