Title: Mormon
Post by: Holiday on November 06, 2007, 10:20:20 AM
I have a friend who has started reading the Mormon Bible and attended one of their church services. How do I go about helping him out? I do not want him to fall into this false hood that the Mormons teach. Any help or ideas will be great.

Hi Holiday. I don't think that I have welcomed you to the forum yet so Welcome to Christians Unite forums. I hope that you enjoy your time here.

There are several threads here on the forum about this subject so first i would like to direct you to them as they have some wonderful information already typed out. I would also like to say that this friend needs a lot of prayers in this matter. I will gladly add them to my prayer list. If you have any further questions on this or other topics please feel free to ask.

Holiday:

Very touchy situation.  I'm not any authority on Mormonism by any means, but I do know that they are misguided.  They do not believe what the Bible says. Let me share what I do know.

1. They do not believe in the trinity, they do believe in the God the Father, God the Son and the Hoy Spirit.  The error comes in that they believe them to be three separate personalities. They say Father is made of flesh and bones, He is not omnipresent, each god through his wife or wives have raise many sons and daughters, He is eternally progressing.

2.  Jesus-was born of the virgin Mary, but is also one of the children of Elphim who is the Father of the the spirit of Jesus.  He is superior because He was born of a human and spirit.  He is flesh and bone.

3.  Holy Spirit-is not flesh and blood like the Father and Son.  He is not omnipresent.

4.  Sin- men will be punished for their own sin and Adam's original sin is irrelevant.

5.  Redemption and Salvation- Jesus atoned for all sin. even the unbeliever can redeem himself thorough self sacrifice, baptism is the gateway to salvation, they even believe in baptism by proxy-where you can be baptized for the salvation of others who died without being baptized, there are 3 levels of heaven you earn your way into.

Please understand that because they do not believe John 14:6  Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me-they are UNSAVED.

Wish I could help you more.  I will pray for the Holy Spirit to guide you as you speak to this friend.

Love in Christa, Eva

Thanks, Eva, for that. That's more than I knew about them. It's enough for me to be convinced that they can't be saved with those beliefs.

Jon-Marc:

I encourage you to share your faith with them and the message of salvation-by Grace in Christ and not by works.   Use scripture to back up your position, it never comes back void.

I will pray for you as well as for your friend to be receptive.

God Bless you, Eva

I think the best advice I can give is show your friend the roman road in the scriptures. If you don't know it then ask someone here to point out the scriptures. If you take your friend down this road it will quickly become clear the differences between true christian beliefs and mormonism.

respectfully yours in Yeshua our Lord

I don't know any Mormons with whom to share the gospel, and they don't come to my home since I live in a locked, gated community.
