Title: Not as the scribes.
Post by: Symphony on November 28, 2003, 03:29:14 PM

What do you think the verse means, "And they were astonished at his teaching, for he taught them as one who had authority, and not as the scribes."  (Mark 1:22)

In the New-Testament period the scribes were the professional interpreters of the Law in the Jewish synagogues.

Christ taught as the one in command giving the commandments not as one interpreting what the command meant so as to be able to obey it.

Christ had the authority to fulfill the law that the scribes reasoned about but yet could not except this fact of the law. That it was going to be fulfilled through this Jesus of Nazareth..

Hmm, good point, Ollie.  Thanks.

What does that translate to mean? I have seen it before but have never known. Is that internet forum lingo?
