Title: Traffic Post by: Tibby on November 26, 2003, 12:30:35 PM Hey guys. I’m suppose to be writing a sattire for my final exam in a class. I’m writing about traffic. 2 out of 5 pages so far. Give me some ideas. What annoying you in traffic? ;D
Title: Re:Traffic Post by: nChrist on November 26, 2003, 04:02:33 PM Oklahoma Howdy to Tibby,
Here's a few for you: People who fly onto major highways from on-ramps without even looking. Tail-gaters People who turn out of the wrong lane on a multi-laned highway to exit, causing brakes to scream for blocks. People with the stereos you can hear for a mile, the ones that rattle the bones in your spine when they get close. People who drive 15 miles under the speed limit during rush hour. Road ragers who flip out over nothing. Loud exhausts that rattle the windows. Oil-burners who leave a cloud over several blocks. I'll try to think of some more for you. In Christ, Tom Title: Re:Traffic Post by: Tibby on November 26, 2003, 05:00:11 PM Oh, those a good! I can’t believe I left them out!!!! Thanks! Those setrio systems i don't get. One of my work-out buddies owns a sucessful Windowtent/Car Sterio place in town. When is isn't busy, I'll stop by after school, and you will see people with broke down hoopies, smoke coming out of the hood, each door a different color, and stop by to make a lay-away payment!! Someone needs to adjust there priorities! Hey, my friend ain't complaning, he is rolling in it! haha These people... And the people in hoopies who think they are part of the Cast of the Fast and the Ferous!
Oh yeah, one more: Disgruntled cops ;D lol j/k We love you BEP! Title: Re:Traffic Post by: nChrist on November 26, 2003, 05:55:24 PM Oh yeah, one more: Disgruntled cops ;D lol j/k We love you BEP! Oklahoma Howdy to Tibby, ;D ;D I have something to ask you about those disgruntled cops. If they have an ample supply of coffee and donuts, would they be gruntled cops? ;D Happy Thanksgiving. Love In Christ, Tom Title: Re:Traffic Post by: elisabeth on November 26, 2003, 06:15:47 PM LOL there are so many things that annoy me when driving:
- huge transport trucks that drive slowly, especially when driving in the "fast lane" (which they're not supposed to be doing!) - people who make left-hand turns well after the light has changed, as well as those who race advanced greens - people who don't signal - people who cut in front of you superclosely, particularly while going at highway speed - people on cell phones while driving - people who don't have their headlights on during early morning, dusk, or even at night(!) - people who do all of the above and have a "baby on board" sign on their window Title: Re:Traffic Post by: Tibby on November 26, 2003, 08:01:55 PM - people who do all of the above and have a "baby on board" sign on their window haha, I have to find a palce to put that in the paper! Title: Re:Traffic Post by: Sapphire W34P0N on November 26, 2003, 09:42:05 PM Tibby, I think it might be good to know it's spelled "satire." That should save you a point or two, not that it will matter much in the long run. This essay was doomed before your professor announced it.
Title: Re:Traffic Post by: Whitehorse on November 26, 2003, 11:42:12 PM Or how about the people in the next lane that speed up to block you as soon as they see your turn signal go on. Especially those who are blocking an off-ramp! ::)
Or the people who don't check their blind spots-ever. Or the people who careen into your fender, and then glare at you like it's your fault. Or who are trying to create a sonic boom on a residential road with limited visibility. I almost got hit twice this way-and it was the same driver both times. Nope-not kidding. Title: Re:Traffic Post by: Tibby on November 27, 2003, 12:00:09 AM When you put Calvin and Hobbs on your profile, you lose your write to point out other people issues… ;) Just think, in a few more months and a Drivers Ed class, you might be able to actually contribute to this thread... or be the cause of a similar one... ;D
Everyone, good stuff. How about those guys who speed up as you try to pass them? Title: Re:Traffic Post by: Willowbirch on November 27, 2003, 07:20:09 AM Oh yeah, one more: Disgruntled cops ;D lol j/k We love you BEP! Title: Re:Traffic Post by: Symphony on November 28, 2003, 08:24:24 AM I think the thing that bugs me the most about traffic is, um... the traffic.
:-X --Oh Wait! One other thing: Someone screaming in the back seat, "Are we there yet?" ::) Title: Re:Traffic Post by: Tibby on November 29, 2003, 12:45:45 AM Sapp-Maybe... ;) Either way, it is awful ironic ;D
Sym-I don’t think I have that problem yet. 8) Title: Re:Traffic Post by: RajunCajun on November 30, 2003, 05:10:21 PM Lottsa good posts but here's one I didn't see and it REALLY BUGS ME!
the driver who stops in the Walmart P.L. lane and waits for a space close to the door when there's not even anyone near a parked car to back out. If I can "squeeze" past them, i can go around and park in the back of the lot and be in the store before they ever move. One time, I even got in the store and back out only to see that same car still waiting for a close up space. Title: Re:Traffic Post by: Willowbirch on December 01, 2003, 07:17:27 AM Lottsa good posts but here's one I didn't see and it REALLY BUGS ME! ;D Or the guy (or gal) that waits right behind you while you're trying to back out, wanting to be the first to grab your space...the driver who stops in the Walmart P.L. lane and waits for a space close to the door when there's not even anyone near a parked car to back out. You're supposed to treat it as a four way stop. I saw 6 cars in a row go through one downed light in downtown Indy one night while I waited for my "turn." One of them was a cop!
Or, how about people that ignore you at a stop sign! I've actually had to sit and wait for 5 cars to go before someone figured out it might just be my lane's turn to go! Here's my favorite though - holidays, namely, Christmas. Here's the time that every moron with a license decides to drive, and do so with great amounts of ineptitude. Oh well. My bitter driving issues have now been vented! ;D Title: Re:Traffic Post by: Allinall on December 03, 2003, 05:25:35 AM Quote Lottsa good posts but here's one I didn't see and it REALLY BUGS ME! the driver who stops in the Walmart P.L. lane and waits for a space close to the door when there's not even anyone near a parked car to back out. This reminds me of my brother-in-law's family's favorite holiday game to play in parking lots. They walk down an aisle with a car just turning into it. That car will follow them thinking they are about to get a spot. They'll stop, fiddle with their keys, then cross a couple aisles to where their car is really parked! I like that one! Mean, but funny! LOL I've actually done that unintentionally, when I forget where my car is in the crowded parking lot. but I must admit, when someone is following me for my parking spot, and there's another spot close by but just a bit further,I do take an extra long time getting my keys, and warming up my car. it just annoys me that they won't go and park in the other spot and stop watching me! I'm neurotic that way. Title: Re:Traffic Post by: Willowbirch on December 04, 2003, 04:50:09 AM This reminds me of my brother-in-law's family's favorite holiday game to play in parking lots. Or, how about those key phobes that honk the horn of your vehicle to tell you it's locked? Ever sat in the store, key phobe in hand, watching some unsuspecting fellow backing cautiously out of the lot..."HONK"! And they screech to a halt, and look around and can't see anybody, 'cause you're not even IN the vehicle?? (Another mean but acidly funny one.) Title: Re:Traffic Post by: Allinall on December 04, 2003, 04:59:22 AM ;D I like that one!
