Thousands March Against Iraq War

Thousands of protesters have marched from the White House to the Capitol to demand an end to the Iraq war.

More than 180 people were arrested during the protests.

Many of the protesters were arrested without a struggle after they jumped over a barricade near the base of the Capitol.

But some grew angry as police attempted to push them back using large black shields and a chemical spray.

Protesters responded by throwing signs and chanting: "Shame on you".

The demonstrators marched holding banners and signs and saying: "What do we want? Troops out. When do we want it? Now."

Pro-war campaigners lined the pavements behind metal barricades. There were some heated shouting matches between the two sides.

The rally was organized by the ANSWER Coalition and other groups.

Anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan told the crowd it was time to be assertive. "It's time to lay our bodies on the line and say we've had enough," she said. "It's time to shut this city down." "and it's time for us to do civil disobedience on a massive scale".

Across from Taft Park, some anti-American demonstrators waving a large, upside-down American flag and pulling a coffin with Army boots got in a scuffle with Eagles.

AP claims the anti-war group numbered around 5,000 and the Eagles only at 1,000. If this is anything like the last protest these numbers are from being correct. One person with the Gathering of the Eagles group said there were over 2,000 Eagles there and perhaps much more. They would have more precise numbers later after a tally was taken.

Well thats anything but anti-war.

You're right it's declaring war on their own nation. However there are many other legal terms that apply, treason, inciting to riot, and quite a few others.

Much of these actions were caught on tape but I am sure that most new media will not be showing them and will downplay the actions and words of the anti-American crowd. Michele Malkin and some of her friends have the video on these incidents and will be putting them out where they can as soon as they can.

If you think that is sickening and disgusting .....

I'm a little bit late in posting this as I didn't see it until now. This ANSWER group had the nerve to go to the Walter Reed Hospital and stage a protest there the day before the one in DC. Many made some very derogative comments about our Soldiers, putting down the brave sacrifices that they made. GOE and FR were there also. They outnumbered the anti crowd by about 100 to 12 so our injured and sick Soldiers saw something good about this. Unfortunately they also had to see the hatred against them for the sacrifices that they made for those very same people.

Who knows what will happen in the near future? Maybe many folks will be forced to defend themselves and their families at their own homes for the first time. A light bulb might come on then, and they will realize what they've done. This enemy isn't going to go away or stop. This enemy is made up of fanatic nuts who are determined to kill us. Retreating or coming home will simply make them want to come here and finish the job. Given half a chance - they will.

Maybe the Sheehans, Fondas, Kerrys, Moores, Reids, Clintons, and others like them will be able to try their tactics with real terrorists soon. Ooooops - I forgot - they would run and try to surrender if they were caught. Somehow - I don't think that the terrorists would like them enough to hold them hostage.

No I don't think the word "hostage" is in their vocabulary at least not for very long time frames.
