Title: America--Christian Nation? Post by: Jon-Marc on September 12, 2007, 11:18:55 AM In my home city online newspaper, there is a poll that asks, "Is America a Christian Nation? 72.2% so far said Yes. With all the wickedness going on in this country, I might believe 5%--if that, but over 72%--I don't think so. Many deny the existence of God and want nothing to do with Him. They virtually say, "We will run our lives our own way."
Homosexuality has been accepted as an alternate lifestyle and is even protected by laws. They are allowed to marry, adopt children, and even become pastors in some states. Millions of unborn babies have been slaughtered so far. There are wars and rumors of wars--as the Bible predicted for the end times. All manner of wickedness is accepted and glorified, while Christian values are being flushed down the toilet. Belief in God, His written word, and Christianity is being severely criticized as being "Old fashioned, and out-dated." Title: Re: America--Christian Nation? Post by: Soldier4Christ on September 12, 2007, 11:34:26 AM The U.S. was founded on Christian principles and was predominately a Christian nation. I will agree with your consensus on the current situation in the U.S. We are seeing a falling away from the teachings and following of God's ways. For the majority of people todays ideas of what is and what is not Christian is very different from what God says it is. Many are Christian in name only.
I am not so sure that I would put it as low as you did but I would agree that it is nowhere near the figures that were in your local paper either. Title: Re: America--Christian Nation? Title: Re: America--Christian Nation? Post by: nChrist on September 12, 2007, 04:43:42 PM Brothers and Sisters,
There are many sad and evil things happening all over the world. It is quite possible that we're watching Bible Prophecy unfold before our very eyes. If so, nothing will slow, stop, or hasten it. This does not hint that we should stop sharing the GOOD NEWS - just the opposite - share the GOOD NEWS more. It also doesn't hint that we should give up, lay down, and give everything to the devil without opposition. In terms of Christians in this part of the world, they used to call us the "Silent Majority". That's a political term, but it's very sad and accurate in many cases. I do know that many people call themselves Christians simply because they go to church. AND, as Brother David said, "but don't know who Jesus is." The world has become a horribly evil place, and it's getting worse by the minute. I'm not aware of any place that's immune from increasing evil. For a Christian's part, I think it's simply a matter of prayer and asking GOD to use us however HE Will until JESUS CHRIST comes to take us home. Please note that this means death in many parts of the world, and it might mean the same thing here one day. This is a reasonable service for GOD. In fact, I can't think of a better way to die than in service to GOD. Brothers and Sisters, we don't have to risk our lives yet to share the GOOD NEWS of Salvation, JESUS CHRIST, and the Cross. If we did have to risk our lives, it would simply be time to pray and ask GOD to give us the strength, courage, and guidance to continue. Voice of the Martyrs is an excellent publication that gives details about Christians giving their lives around the world while serving GOD. There are FREE subscription links for "VOM" several places on Christians Unite. It will make you appreciate the safety and freedoms that we still enjoy, and I highly recommend it. Christians, for our part, we should be determined to run a good race, fight a good fight, and finish our course that GOD has laid out for us. As Paul said, we would love to hear one day, "Well done good and faithful servant." We can't stop the evil in this world, but we CAN yield ourselves for the use of GOD. Post by: curious on February 04, 2008, 06:01:02 AM The Bible said that there would be a Falling away, but there was a falling away then there was a movement. It happened a couple of times in the past 35 years. I think this might be THE Falling away prophesied in the Bible though. It seems like alot of the Senate, Congress & Courts are for it.

Post by: StrikeToWin on February 04, 2008, 02:36:18 PM Unfortunately, Christian brings in a lot of false religins as well as the true Faith. Our society has become so enamored with the court system and being politically correct that no one wants to offend anyone else for fear that they can be sued. I can't talk about my religion at work with coworkers for fear that I may be terminated for offending someones beliefs. It may not be right but it is a sad, sad fact that we as Christians have to continue to fight. We may not be under the same persecutions as what Paul and some others faced, but we are being persecuted all the same simply for our beliefs.
Title: Re: America--Christian Nation? Post by: nChrist on February 04, 2008, 03:31:00 PM This part of the world still has the greatest Religious Freedoms, but that is changing almost by the minute now. I fondly remember what it was like 50 years ago. Removal of Religious Freedom is escalating rapidly now. We are seeing more negative changes now in months than we used to see in years.
Christians are hated, persecuted, beaten, imprisoned, and killed in many parts of the world. These same conditions might be coming to this part of the world faster than any of us can imagine. One doesn't need to watch long now to see and record dramatic change for the worst. We can even see some horribly evil things happening in so-called churches. If we are nearing the End Days of this Age of Grace, the Holy Bible tells us that things will get much worse. This part of the world is not immune to these types of problems. In fact, we are already seeing it in many places. Love In Christ, Tom Ephesians 6:10-17 NASB Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm. Stand firm therefore, HAVING GIRDED YOUR LOINS WITH TRUTH, and HAVING PUT ON THE BREASTPLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS, and having shod YOUR FEET WITH THE PREPARATION OF THE GOSPEL OF PEACE; in addition to all, taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. And take THE HELMET OF SALVATION, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. |
