Title: Re: ADMIN - Post by: Soldier4Christ on September 06, 2007, 10:00:44 AM Hi WolfBrother,
Did you receive that from Christians Unite? If so in what time frame? We have the PM's shut off right now so you shouldn't be receiving anything from the forum unless it is from a moderator. If the source is from somewhere else other than Christians Unite I would suggest contacting Admin by using the "Contact Us" at the bottom of the main page of the forum, as Admin doesn't come to the forum very often. To prevent this sort of thing from happening again I suggest that you go into your profile settings and insure that you have your email address marked as hidden. Title: Re: ADMIN - Post by: nChrist on September 07, 2007, 12:20:00 AM Brothers and Sisters,
I would simply repeat Please double-check your profile settings and make sure that your email address is checked hidden. Any email from Christians Unite will be official and easy to check the source. This French person obviously collected email addresses that weren't marked as hidden and sent out her con-game letter. If your email address isn't marked as hidden, anyone on the Internet can get it. If your email address IS marked as hidden, it's completely safe and our ADMIN goes to great lengths in protecting private user information. For the above reasons, I highly recommend that you mark your email as hidden on every forum or online community that you use. Your email should be reserved for official communications that you have authorized. Lastly, there are a million con games on the Internet using every scam you can think of. Christians are usually pretty easy to con because they are so soft hearted. As an example, there was nearly 2 billion dollars of con games associated with Hurricane Katrina. Criminals acted like churches, had bogus web sites, bogus telephone numbers, and all kinds of things set up to steal money intended for the victims of the hurricane. SO, keep your BIG HEART - just go to some extra effort to make sure your donations are going where you intended them to go. Hand carrying your donation to a local branch is the best - AND get a receipt. We do have some threads on the forum about making sure that criminals don't get your donations. Title: Re: ADMIN - Post by: Jon-Marc on September 07, 2007, 12:44:25 AM I got the same message today. I made the mistake of clicking on it since I thought it was someone from this Web site. It didn't make any sense, and I just deleted it.
Title: Re: ADMIN - Post by: Shammu on September 07, 2007, 12:48:14 AM This is also one of the reasons the PM feature is turned off. We have had several people PM'ing on con games.
For your own safety, I also urge you to check your profile settings, and make sure that your email address is checked hidden. Title: Re: ADMIN - Post by: Jon-Marc on September 07, 2007, 12:52:29 AM To prevent this sort of thing from happening again I suggest that you go into your profile settings and insure that you have your email address marked as hidden. I went into my Profile and couldn't find anything like that. Title: Re: ADMIN - Post by: Shammu on September 07, 2007, 01:03:18 AM I went into my Profile and couldn't find anything like that.
