Title: Fly Your Flag This Coming 9-11
Post by: Shammu on August 29, 2007, 02:56:29 PM
Fly Your Flag This Coming 9-11

Please join me in this FLY THE FLAG campaign and PLEASE forward this as an email immediately to everyone in your address book asking them to also forward it. We have a little less than two weeks and counting to get the word out all across this great land and into every community in the United States of America.

If you forward this as an email to in your address book, each of those people do the same... well you get the idea. :D

THE PROGRAM IS THIS:

On Tuesday, September 11th, 2007, an American flag should be displayed outside every home, apartment, office, and store in the United States.

Every individual should make it their duty to display an American flag on this sixth anniversary of our country's worst tragedy. We do this in honor of those who lost their lives on 9/11, their families, friends and loved ones who continue to endure the pain, and those who today are fighting at home and abroad to preserve our cherished freedoms.

In the days, weeks and months following 9/11, our country was bathed in  American flags as citizens mourned the incredible losses and stood  shoulder-to-shoulder against terrorism. Sadly, those flags have all but disappeared. Our patriotism pulled us through some tough times and it shouldn't take another attack to galvanize us in solidarity. Our American flag is the fabric of our country and together we can prevail over terrorism of all kinds.

Action Plan: So, here's what we need you to do...

1. Forward this email to everyone you know. Take a moment to think back to how you felt on 9/11 and let those sentiments guide you.

2. Fly an American flag of any size on 9/11.  Honestly, Americans should fly the flag year-round, but if you don't, then at least make it a priority on this day.

3. Remember that flying the American Flag at night,  the Flag needs to be lighted.

Thank you for your participation. God Bless You and God Bless America

This sounds like a winner to me.

Let's also pray every day that we all turn back toward GOD and make HIM the ruler over our lives.

Love In Christ,
Tom

Thanks be unto God for His unspeakable GIFT, Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour Forever!

Amen, we should fly our flag everyday anyway. And let's not forget to pray for our country and for it's leaders too. That their eyes may be opened and that they may see that God is our only hope and answer to every crisis

America this, America that. You aren't the only country in the world. Stop acting more important than everyone else. Pray for the world, not just America! God bless the world, not just America.  >:(

Had to rant sorry.

Calm down now David.  ;)  As you can see from several other posts above there was mentioned more than just the U.S. The original article was about the U.S. and it's flag. After all we are in a battle within this nation as well but it was mentioned to "pray every day that we all turn back toward GOD and make HIM the ruler over our lives". That is a prayer for all of mankind, not just the U.S. No one here thinks that the U.S. is more important than anyone else.

Thank you for saying that pastor roger. I can completely understand where David is coming from after being on other forums. I am glad to hear that CU isn't the same.

Hello Brother David,

Please take another look at my post, and you'll see I wasn't just talking about America. See Below:

Quote
Let's also pray every day that we all turn back toward GOD and make HIM the ruler over our lives.

"ALL" is the key and operative word. There is no mention of "America" in my post. If you wish to mention your country or any other country, please feel most welcome to do so.

Let's also pray every day that we all turn back toward GOD and make HIM the ruler over our lives.

The above is what's wrong with the world today. Many more hearts need to be ruled by GOD around the world in every country!

JESUS CHRIST will destroy evil at HIS SECOND COMING and bring ALL into subjection - UNDER HIS FEET! Every knee will bow to HIM, and HE will rule and reign over the earth from the Throne of David in Jerusalem for 1,000. JESUS CHRIST will even lock away the devil for final judgment at HIS Appointed Time.

Brother David, I mention "this portion of the world" or "countries in this portion of the world" in many of my posts because of the reasons you mention. However, I do live in OKLAHOMA, America and I like it. Please tell us about any country you wish, including the city where you live. I'd love to hear about it. By the way, our threads about places, wildlife, nature, likes, and dislikes aren't for any particular country. In fact, none of our threads are for any particular country. If you have a special day or event that you want others to know about, it doesn't make any difference what country it's in. The only thing that matters is that it's clean and appropriate for a Christian family forum.

Brother David, tell us about where you live, and I'll consider moving there. The MOVE I'm really looking forward to is HOME WITH JESUS!   ;)

Love In Christ,
Tom

KEEP LOOKING UP!!

Bep, I do now see you were talking about the world.

Hello Brother David,

I do understand. There probably is more references to America on the forum than other countries. People consciously or unconsciously talk about places and things that they know the most about. Unconsciously, I probably do this, but I'll guess that a large percentage of it deals with things that I'm ashamed of, think it's wrong, or want to change. In other words, I hope that none of it is viewed as bragging about anything. If there is any bragging or Glory, let it be in CHRIST!

I don't like the fact that any people or nation turns away from GOD, but this effects my family in a more personal way where we live. This is something that I complain about frequently, and it isn't anything to be proud of. In fact, there's a huge list of things today for Christians to be ashamed of. This list of things to be ashamed of is probably common for most of the free world. Then, there is a different list of problems for people in captivity. In short, if I do any bragging about anything, I hope it's in CHRIST!

Love In Christ,
Tom

I agree that I probably do the same thing. After all it is common for people to talk the most about where they live as that is what they know the most about. Along that line it is also thought by some people that things that happen in other places of the world doesn't affect us in this part of the world. That is why some want us out of other nations and to just bolster down in our own countries. The truth is that what does happen in other parts of the world will eventually affect all parts of the world. Especially when it is something evil.

I forget to bump this up, these past few days. I had a flag flying off my car, at at my home. I am flying my flag all night with spot lights shining on the flag. For those of you, that are American here are a few "Rules of the Flag."

When the flag is displayed over the middle of the street, it should be suspended vertically with the union to the north in an east and west street or to the east in a north and south street.

The flag of the United States of America, when it is displayed with another flag against a wall from crossed staffs, should be on the right, the flag's own right (that means the viewer's left), and its staff should be in front of the staff of the other flag.

The flag, when flown at half-staff, should be first hoisted to the peak for an instant and then lowered to the half-staff position. The flag should be again raised to the peak before it is lowered for the day. By "half-staff" is meant lowering the flag to one-half the distance between the top and bottom of the staff. Crepe streamers may be affixed to spear heads or flagstaffs in a parade only by order of the President of the United States.

When flags of States, cities, or localities, or pennants of societies are flown on the same halyard with the flag of the United States, the latter should always be at the peak. When the flags are flown from adjacent staffs, the flag of the United States should be hoisted first and lowered last. No such flag or pennant may be placed above the flag of the United States or to the right of the flag of the United States (the viewer's left). When the flag is half-masted, both flags are half-masted, with the US flag at the mid-point and the other flag below.

When the flag is suspended over a sidewalk from a rope extending from a house to a pole at the edge of the sidewalk, the flag should be hoisted out, union first, from the building.

When the flag of the United States is displayed from a staff projecting horizontally or at an angle from the window sill, balcony, or front of a building, the union of the flag should be placed at the peak of the staff unless the flag is at half-staff.

When the flag is used to cover a casket, it should be so placed that the union is at the head and over the left shoulder. The flag should NOT be lowered into the grave or allowed to touch the ground.

When the flag is displayed in a manner other than by being flown from a staff, it should be displayed flat, whether indoors or out. When displayed either horizontally or vertically against a wall, the union should be uppermost and to the flag's own right, that is, to the observer's left. When displayed in a window it should be displayed in the same way, that is with the union or blue field to the left of the observer in the street. When festoons, rosettes or draping are desired, bunting of blue, white and red should be used, but never the flag.

That the flag, when carried in a procession with another flag, or flags, should be either on the marching right; that is, the flag's own right, or, if there is a line of other flags, in front of the center of that line.

The flag of the United States of America should be at the center and at the highest point of the group when a number of flags of States or localities or pennants of societies are grouped and displayed from staffs.

When flags of two or more nations are displayed, they are to be flown from separate staffs of the same height. The flags should be of approximately equal size. International usage forbids the display of the flag of one nation above that of another nation in time of peace. The order of precedence for flags generally is National flags (US first, then others in alphabetical order in English), State (host state first, then others in the order of admission) and territories (Washington DC, Puerto Rico, etc.), Military (in order of establishment: Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard), then other.

When displayed from a staff in a church or public auditorium on or off a podium, the flag of the United States of America should hold the position of superior prominence, in advance of the audience, and in the position of honor at the clergyman's or speaker's right as he faces the audience. Any other flag so displayed should be placed on the left of the clergyman or speaker (to the right of the audience). Please note that the old guidelines differed from this updated and simplified one.

When the flag is displayed on a car, the staff shall be fixed firmly to the chassis or clamped to the right fender.

When hung in a window, place the blue union in the upper left, as viewed from the street.

I'm sure I missed a few, but Pastor Roger can add to this list.
