Has anyone visited or live in San Antonio?  From what I read and see, it looks like a nice city.  I would love to visit it someday (hopefully).  Can you tell a bit about your experiences there, etc?   Also, is it considered a safe city?

Not me. I've been to Texas, lived there awhile, but not San Antonio.

Since I live in Pennsylvania, I haven't been that far.  The farthest I've been would be Kentucky. :(

But I'm very glad of where I livew now, because I've heard we go to the best church around our area!  ;D

I live in Los Angeles but was raised in PA (Pittsburgh).  What part of PA are you from?

I've grown used to the colorful Mexican culture (handcrafts, folk dresses/dances (to watch), architecture) and of course, a little Mexican food now and then.  From photos, San Antonio seems to have this same influence....the River Walk looks like it would be really nice to visit with it's cafes and the boats to ride.

Well, I was born Chambersburg hospital, spent 5 years in Waynesboro, and now I live here in a little town called Greencastle in Franklin County.  :D

I'm not familiar with Franklin County.  What part of PA is it directional wise?  How is it living in Greencastle?  Can you walk to everything (market, church, banks, etc)?   I have a cousin that lives in Connellsville, PA.  Plus a few cousins still in Pittsburgh.

I've been all through Texas, I've been to Houston, Dallas, Amarillo, and a bunch of other cities, I can't remember them all now, but to give you an idea form Louisiana all the way west to New Mexico and from Louisiana all the way North up to Oklahoma.  I love it there are some really nice towns, but the traffic in Houston and in Dallas is horrible.

I lived in Pa. for a couple of years,  I lived in Reading, my youngest daughter was born there.

A friend moved to Tyler, TX several years ago because the rents and homes are much higher in Los Angeles.  She got a nice home in Tyler.

I was near there when I did the first half of my Air Force basic training in November 1965. It was too cold there that time of year for me. Of course, I had to stand outside all night on guard duty in lightweight clothing, and that was no fun.

Debp, the cost of living is getting so ridiculously high every where it is almost unbelievable. My husband wants to buy a home here, but my problem is the cost of insurance here in Fl is almost as  high as another mortgage, and the cost to maintain the home, with utilities, HOA, lawn maintenance, and pest control is unspeakable,, not to mention we still have to eat and wear clothes, and ride our cars to work. Some insurance companies are even dropping some of their carriers.

Homes and apartments are really high in Los Angeles.  I know people that just bought a 2 bedroom for over $700,000!!  (Anything under that is either in a not so good neighborhood or else needs some fixing up.)  In the new apartment buildings they are building in and near downtown, a "single" (that's only one room[/ b]) was advertised for $1600 a month!!  Another single was $1200 a month!!  Even the older apartment buildings are getting higher and higher....

Yes rents and mortgages are really outrages now a days.
There is a church near the church I attend that bought an apartment complex and converted it to condos, they are selling them to Christians and at a very reasonable price, they are beautiful, all gated Christian community, the only problem is that it is in one of the highest crime areas in Orlando and too far from my husband's job. I wouldn't mind buying one, but my husband said no. So here we are in an apartment.  :-\

That's a good idea of the church to do that....too bad it's in such a high crime area.  Unless, they can perhaps start some outreach to the neighborhood kids....maybe that would help to change the area.
