Title: Minuteman leader criticizes McCain's 'flip-flop' on immigration Post by: Soldier4Christ on August 06, 2007, 04:59:51 PM Minuteman leader criticizes McCain's 'flip-flop' on immigration
The president of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps says Senator John McCain's political career is finished. Chris Simcox says he's skeptical about the Arizona senator's sudden change of course on the illegal immigration issue. Republican presidential candidate John McCain led the charge earlier this summer for a comprehensive immigration bill that included a guest worker plan that would have given amnesty for millions of illegal aliens. That bill was defeated, and the Arizona senator's position has been a campaign liability, hurting his efforts to raise money. Now McCain says he supports a scaled-down proposal that imposes strict rules to end illegal immigration that does not include a path to citizenship. Simcox, who lives in Arizona, shares the opinion of other observers that the senator's sudden flip-flop was purely political. "Its abundantly clear that Mr. McCain wants to be president of the United States more than we the people want him to be, and especially the people of Arizona," states Simcox. "He's lost complete support in Arizona. If he were running for re-election for the Senate now, he would lose." The Minuteman leader accuses McCain of "doing whatever he can to appease a certain group of voters" and of not being "sincere" about securing the nation's borders -- otherwise, he adds, the Republican lawmaker "would have gotten us the support that we need in Arizona" to do so. Simcox believes McCain has now dropped into the second tier of GOP hopefuls and does not have a chance to become president. I can only speak for myself when I say that I marked McCain off of my list of possibilities a long time ago. Changing with the polls is not my idea of what a President should be. Errors and all, you have to give President Bush credit where credit is due. He did do many good things, and I think that history will identify more than what we think of today. He at least stood up with his convictions and tried, regardless of the opposition and polls. I'm not just talking about illegal immigration, rather a long list of BIG problems that are really unique in our history. So, I would greatly prefer someone who is willing to own their convictions and stand up as opposed to a lying snake who will shift with every breeze. I honestly don't know if someone like this will emerge as a candidate. I will do as I always do and vote for the person most qualified after considerable prayer. The prayer will continue for whoever is elected, regardless of whether they were my choice or not. Love In Christ, Tom KEEP LOOKING UP!! Too bad we don't have someone running for office that fits that description.

Too bad we don't have someone running for office that fits that description. Brother, I'm wanting to hear more about Fred Thompson and see what develops. The list of candidates are pretty bleak, and there are others I wouldn't vote for if they were the only ones on the list (i.e. Obama, Clinton, Edwards). I won't even mention some of the democrats who are legally insane. ;D The people in white coats will probably take them away before the election.
