Reportedly, police say the suspect in the Chauncey Bailey homicide case has confessed. The Oakland Tribune reports that a 19-year-old handyman at the organization "Your Black Muslim Bakery" told authorities last night that he ambushed the Oakland Post Editor on Thursday morning. Officials have identified the suspect as Devaughhndre Broussard. According to the paper Broussard said he was angry at Bailey over stories he had written, and planned to write, about the controversial group. Bailey had told people at the post that he was working on a story about the Bakery's finances. The paper reports that police say they arrested Broussard at his home Friday morning during a series of raids that also netted several other arrests for a variety of violent crimes. He is reportedly scheduled to be booked on suspicion of murder today. Bailey was remembered this morning at the Oakland intersection where he was gunned down days ago. Now a citizen effort is underway to help police solve the case. |
