Title: HELP - What Is I Doing Wrong??
Post by: Pepe Lepew on July 29, 2007, 01:28:18 PM
Pictures I scanned on my Dell 940 All-in-One Printer are at resolutions or dimensions like 300 x 241 (10.9 KB), or 350 x 256 (8.79 KB)., now in my My Pictures file, which upload easily.

Now when I scan similar pictures on the same machine, the dimensions always come out like 612 x 799, at 223 KB, or 612 x 792, at 86.2 KB, and much larger than that, which are too large. I can't seem to find a low enough setting on the Scanning function on the printer, to once again achieve those earlier smaller dimensions. But they were done on the same machine. What was I doing then, that I can't seem to be able to do now?

I've tried changing the programmed settings in the Scanning menu in every possible combination. The lowest allowed setting seems to be 72 dbi (although in the Printer specs it says it goes as low as 50 dbi). When I did the earlier scanned pictures some time ago, I know I didn't do anything complicated--I just did it. There must be something real obvious i'm just not doing or seeing now.

Thank you.   :'(

I'm afraid that I can't be of much help. I have a Lexmark myself and the software and hardware settings are all different I'm sure. Mine only allows 72, 150 and 300 dbi settings. If I want anything different than that then I have to use a separate graphics program that allows me to change the picture.

Dell usually provides a service number that you can call to get assistance. I would try that. If you don't have the number with the all-in-one then I would try going to Dell's web site and look for it.

Thank you, Pastor Roger.

Yes, my settings are similar to yours, then.   I'll try some of those suggestions.
