Title: Re:Four more days of vacation...and counting! Post by: Romans8_1 on November 06, 2003, 02:42:40 PM What should I do with it? Here are a couple of ideas ... 1) If you are in a realationship, suprise them with a night out to dinner and a movie. 2) If you have kids, pack a lunch and head to the park for a picnic 3) If you are alone ... go see the Matrix Reloaded. ;) (That's where I'll be in about 1 hour). 4) Write a letter to a friend you have not spoken to in some time. 5) Write an encouraging email to your pastor telling them how much you appreciate what they are doing. 6) Invite a friend to play a game of basketball, or to just throw the football. 7) Clean up the house and the yard. 8) Read a book you've been meaning to . 9) Just sit outside in a rocking chair and breath in life for a short time. 10) Spend some quality time with someone special. Well, I gotta go see a movie. Grace and Peace and Love to you. Title: Re:Four more days of vacation...and counting! Post by: Whitehorse on November 06, 2003, 06:23:36 PM Willow, it's all yours!
Romans, those are awesome ideas! Title: Re:Four more days of vacation...and counting! Post by: Willowbirch on November 07, 2003, 05:22:56 AM What should I do with it? Post by: Symphony on November 07, 2003, 10:25:30 AM Hmmm, I guess you've only got two days left now. I don't know if this would work, but I've thought of nursing homes, maybe asking at the front desk if they have any patients who never get visited at all, and maybe visiting them. Or other types of places where just an hour visit from someone might be for them so different. Maybe just read from the Bible--your favorite passages. Orphanages? I don't know. Maybe a Division of Family Services desk would know of isolated people. Or a Battered Women's place. I remember when I was working in Social work, I heard that that facility(location was secret) was always overflowing. If you're a woman, you'd have an "in" that men christians wouldn't, maybe. I once heard of an elderly woman who would visit the prison. The inmates called her "mom". Obviously, a young chicky babed( ;D) could never do that, but for an elderly woman the opposite was true. Depending on our own particular situations, we each have respective "ins" that others couldn't, or shouldn't, go near. You'll probably find yourself busier than ever(so much for "vacation"!--hehe). ??? 8) Title: Re:Four more days of vacation...and counting! Post by: Whitehorse on November 07, 2003, 06:48:23 PM Well, that's true. But I'm so antsy I can hardly contain myself. Fidget, fidget, fidget! I think I'll make some decaf ( ::) ) and read some devotional materials for the moment-everything's closed. Plus I have relatives visiting from out of town tomorrow-I almost forgot! S'pose I better vacuum. After all that hiking it needs it.
I found a nest yesterday while I was out on the trail. It was on the ground, out of the tree, with nothing in it. So I brought it home to show my relatives. My sister in law is a hiker/climber, too-she'll think it's neat. Too bad we live so far away from each other. I now have two people who want to do the Appalatian Trail with me. All I have to do is make it feasible! ::) Title: Re:Four more days of vacation...and counting!
