Title: Poison Ivy and Global Warming Post by: Soldier4Christ on July 23, 2007, 10:21:59 AM Poison Ivy and Global Warming
A meteorologist just made the comment that poison ivy likes CO2 more than most plants so global warming is being blamed for the abundant growth of these plants, a stronger more persistent urushiol, the rash causing oil the plant produces, and more cases of the rash being reported by Drs. The truth is that many variables cause all plants to grow better not just CO2. The climatic conditions this year have been excellent for all plants in most areas. It is true that all plants need CO2 and can thrive better in higher amounts of CO2 even when there is little nitrogen in the soil. Not only is there more poison ivy growth but there is more tree growth this year in the same areas with many more seedlings sprouting out and established trees showing more leaves and growth. Corn belt farmers are reporting an earlier and more proliferate crop. The production of more healthy plants means more oxygen production and more cooling effect on the planet.
