Title: Finding a church home or just starting a small group Post by: help30 on July 21, 2007, 09:50:51 PM SORRY FOR THE LENGHT OF THE QUESTION.
I would to reword my question, I had been an interim-pastor from 2000-2005. After the church decided to disband the group that was left did not want to start another church. So I assisted them in finding other churches. At that time I started visiting churches, I even when back to the denomination I had served in for 25 years. But it was not the same at the church I attend, I wasn't really want there which cause problems with other churches in the denomination not want me at there churches. I really can't think of anything I did wrong other than just wanting to be a help. So what do interim- pastors do when they are trying to find a church home and no other churches wants to work with you or they just don't want outside preacher in their pulpit. I have been in the ministier for 30 yrs. It seems when I visited churches looking for a church home, I am push to the side, I have visited one church for over a year now and the pastor has had his first time to ask me off the back seat or even acknowledge me as a preacher. I did not not go there for a position, but I can't tell you, I wouldn't like to help somewhere doing something for the Lord, in some church, but this has seem to be a problem so far everywhere I go within my town. I really need so sound godly advice. I am not looking for someone to take me by the hand and give me anything, but at the same time I not wanting to push my way into someone else's home without being welcome to be there and be a help. So yes I need so Sound godly advice from preacher, pastor, ministiers, elders, and godly brothers and sisters who can understand my desire to stay in God's Will. Title: Re: Finding a church home or just starting a small group Post by: Soldier4Christ on July 21, 2007, 11:15:10 PM I personally don't understand the problem. Most churches are more than happy to have interim pastors join their church. Their are so many churches that are having difficulty getting pastors right now and any good church would be happy to make use of their services on a voluntary basis or supporting them with occasional love offerings.
It may take some more time but I would do a lot of praying on it and continue looking for a good church. Lots of bigger church's are running their own agenda and don't want anyone new coming into their fold that might disagree or at best inform the members of what is really going on. Smaller churches have just small member bases that they don't see the need or have the need for another preacher. However, I do know that there are areas of the country such as in northern states that one preacher is put in charge of a group of churches in their charge. That means the minister must travel in a rotation to different churches each Sunday, or all of them different times throughout the day. If you could find such churches in your area you might be able to get on by being a relief minister that helps out when the regular minister is sick, on vacation or do to weather conditions cannot make the trip. That might lead to a new job.
