New Iranian Computer Game - Releasing Nuclear Scientists Kidnapped by American Forces in Iraq

Following are excerpts from a program on a new Iranian computer game, which aired on Al-Manar TV on July 17, 2007.

Reporter: Said and his wife Maryam are scientists, working for the Iranian atomic energy organization. They are on their way to Iraq to visit the tomb of the Prophet's grandson, Imam Hussein, when they are kidnapped by the American occupation security forces. When Iranian security forces learn about the kidnapping, they appoint Bahman Nasseri, commander of the Special Forces commando unit, to carry out the operation to release the nuclear scientists. In order to do so, Bahman must pass eight difficult stages.

This is the computer game which was presented by the Iranian Student Union, after three years of work. The important goals of this game include encouraging meaningful resistance and the concept of martyrdom.

Mohammad Taqi Fakhrian, member of the Iranian Student Union: This game is based on cultural and religious principles. It encourages the culture of martyrdom and defense of the rights. It opposes violence and terrorism, and the anarchy promoted by the Americans and Israelis.

Reporter: The different stages of this game reveal the cooperation between the occupation forces in Iraq and the Israelis, in targeting vital Iranian interests. After Bahman Nasseri releases the two prisoners in the eighth stage, he is surprised to discover the four Iranian diplomats who were kidnapped in Lebanon 25 years ago, by the Israelis. He makes a new plan in order to release them from captivity. The most important feature of this game is that it targets only American soldiers, not the holy places or civilians. Moreover, there are no images of bloodshed, or blood of soldiers that have been killed. It does not preach violence and does not beat the drums of war.

Sahar Shariari, member of the Iranian Student Union: This is the first step to counter what the America companies are distributing, as part of their globalization plans, in order to corrupt our youth.
