Title: Is Harry Potter the Son of God?

Is Harry Potter the Son of God?

Author claims Harry Potter is Christ allegory. Predicts Harry's Death and Resurrection.

ROCKVILLE, Maryland, July 15 /Christian Newswire/ -- "As we approach the release of the seventh and final book in the Harry Potter series, Potter friends and foes alike are in for the surprise of their lives." So says a just-published article on Mugglenet.com, one of the most-visited Harry Potter fan sites. According to the article by Abigail BeauSeigneur, daughter of Warner Books science fiction author James BeauSeigneur, "The story of Harry Potter is, and always was, a Christian allegory - a fictionalized modern day adaptation of the life of Christ, intended to introduce his character to a new generation."

Ms. BeauSeigneur builds her argument on interviews with Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling and extensive symbolism used in the books. BeauSeigneur cites Rowling's evasiveness about her religious beliefs – though Rowling admits to being Christian, she has been hesitant to reveal more, saying that doing so would reveal too much about her books. BeauSeigneur believes that this evasiveness is a key clue to the books' ultimate plot and will play itself out in Harry Potter's death and resurrection in the seventh book, "Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows" to be released worldwide on July 21.

In the article, available at http://www.mugglenet.com/editorials/editorials/edit-beauseigneura01.shtml, BeauSeigneur quotes Rowling's statements as a starting point then goes on to give evidence from the books through symbolism and similarities between the life of Harry Potter and the life of Christ, citing such examples as their prophetic births, personality traits, life events, opposition to authority, battle against evil, unfair trials, as well as similarities between Lord Voldemort and the devil.

BeauSeigneur not only details how this might play out in the last book of the Rowling series, but also documents her 16-page article with 249 footnotes (a shorter version is also available). Published so far by webzine RevelationFiles.com and MuggleNet (whose editorials have been commended by Rowling their insight), the article has been heralded by some readers as "fascinating" and "brilliant." However, a few Christians readers have been far less receptive; one has suggests that Ms. BeauSeigneur is a "tool of the devil."

Reading this article, especially the title, I am more convinced than ever that this is an evil book that has absolutely no place in a Christians life. This is just one more thing that I have against it. To even suggest such a thing as this is complete blasphemy.

Parents this is more than "just fiction". It is a blatant attempt to soil the minds of your children and to lessen the deity of Jesus Christ.

I do not think there is any way one can compare a harry Potter book to resemble the life of Jesus...There was a time when this world was more innocent of such things that the media..articles in papers and magazines would not print or show anything that is of this nature as they felt it to be against God...Yes...there was a time when the world blushed at this...since then...sin is so comfortable in the home...children dictate what they want without respect...and it is really now what pleases the youth when it is the opposite of what the word teaches...parents who are christians are responsible for their children...to teach them the ways of the Lord and it is only found through daily family bible study...and it being applied to the family..through study...they are taught what is acceptable...as well as parents are taught what is acceptable in raising their children...in this there is no question or debate on any kind of book that man has written...for the child and the adult...

'Use Harry Potter to spread Christian message'

The Church of England is publishing a guide advising youth workers how to use Harry Potter to spread the Christian message.

Days before the release of the seventh and final novel in the series, youth leaders are being told they could use the popularity of the Potter books and films as a "launch pad" for exploring Christian themes.

The guide - published by Church House Publishing - comes as fans gear up for the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows on Saturday, marking the final chapter in an extraordinary publishing phenomenon.

The Harry Potter books and films have been attacked in the past by evangelicals for allegedly glamorising the occult.

Canterbury Cathedral even rejected a request to become a location for the first Harry Potter film, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, for fear of upsetting Christians unhappy with the books.

But in recent years, the Harry Potter phenomenon has received backing from church figures including the former Archbishop of Canterbury Dr George Carey, who described the film as "great fun" and a serious examination of good and evil.

The Bishop of Oxford, the Rt Rev John Pritchard, today described Harry Potter author JK Rowling as a "great storyteller."

He said: "Although the fictional world of Harry Potter is very different from our own, Harry and his friends face struggles and dilemmas that are familiar to us all.

"Jesus used storytelling to engage and challenge his listeners.

"There's nothing better than a good story to make people think, and there's plenty in the Harry Potter books to make young people think about the choices they make in their everyday lives and their place in the world."

Owen Smith, 24, the author of the guide and a youth worker at St Margaret's Church in Rainham, Kent, said: "The magic in the books is simply part of the magic that JK Rowling has created, in the same way that magic is part of the world of Christian writers such as CS Lewis.

"To say, as some have, that these books draw younger readers towards the occult seems to me both to malign JK Rowling and to vastly underestimate the ability of children and young people to separate the real from the imaginary."

Mr Smith has previously written a book on how to use The Simpsons cartoon series as a means of spreading the Christian message.

2 Thessalonians 2:3 Let no one deceive or beguile you in any way, for that day will not come except the apostasy comes first [unless the predicted great falling away of those who have professed to be Christians has come], and the man of lawlessness (sin) is revealed, who is the son of doom (of perdition),

greetings brothers and sisters:

I believe that Paul spoke well about such things in the following verses:

2Ti 3:1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
2Ti 3:2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
2Ti 3:3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
2Ti 3:4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
2Ti 3:5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
