Title: The Unexpected Journey
Post by: Debp on June 23, 2007, 02:26:12 AM
This book by Thom Rainer is based on conversations with 13 people that turned from all sorts of religions or lack of religion to Jesus Christ as their personal Savior.  Included are former high ranking Mormons, Jehovah Witnesses, a leader of Black Muslims turned traditional Muslim, Athiest, Agnostic, Satanist, Astrologer, Witch, New Ager, Hindu, Buddhist....

Brief sidebars tell about each religion....many of which are quite insightful and informative.  For instance, I didn't realize that Jehovah's Witnesses' leadership keep a "file" on members and when they do something wrong, they are severely reprimanded for it.  Their "file" is even transferred to a new city where they might move to...with all of the wrongs still recorded in it!!

One thing each person said was that true Christian love with it's kindness and helping was the major thing in them turning to Christ.   Also, many of them actually went to church when first invited (including the Muslim).  Some of their lives were so painful, so they were so glad to come to know Christ as their Savior.

Hello Debp,

This sounds like an interesting book. Many of the false religions are like living nightmares. There are lots of secrets in cults that many people find hard to believe. In fact, the whole truth about many cults is understated, not overstated. Many horrible things are done to people in the name of false gods, and some of them even try to use the name of GOD.

We start out with a Loving LORD and SAVIOUR who has already died on the CROSS for us. What greater Love is there? For our readers, I must say that HE arose from the dead, and we serve A LIVING SAVIOUR, JESUS CHRIST!

Love In Christ,
Tom

Hebrews 11:6 NASB  And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.

Yes, it's a wonderful thing to know that we are forgiven through Christ.  No one can hold anything against us....no condemnation to us that are in Christ.
