Islamic pressure in Paris forces evangelical congregation to vacate building

After a long struggle against Islamic intimidation, an evangelical church in the outskirts of Paris has been forced to vacate the 1,000-square-foot facility where it had been meeting.

The Temple de Paris Church has been located in the Paris suburb of Bagnolet. Christine Thabot, the wife of the pastor, says Muslims have been trying to get rid of them since 2005, but local authorities had permitted the church to remain in the facility, paying 8,000 euros a month (~ $9,400 U.S.) in rent.

According to Thabot, the Muslims changed their strategy. "They attacked our owner this time," she explains. "They took up the case and [told him he was] not allowed to have this church open -- and on Friday we [were told] that we had to get out of our premises."

Thabot says Temple de Paris Church has been unable to secure another worship center. "For an evangelical or Protestant church, it is almost next to impossible to buy or to rent any premises," she says. "As soon as they find out you are a church, there is nothing open to us."

Thabot says many churches in the area have been closed and have had similar difficulties in securing new facilities. But she claims Muslims can secure property for building a mosque simply by paying one euro to the authorities.

I wonder how this can be, that Muslims would only have to pay one Euro?  I certainly hope this church can find somewhere to meet.

For the same reason that a mosque is being built in Boston with the majority of it being paid by the taxpayers.

I don't understand this.....why should taxpayers have to pay for a mosque to be built?  We don't have to pay for any other religious building to be built.

Btw, I understand the Saudis especially are pouring millions (or is it billions) into building mosques and spreading Islam in non-Islamic countries.  This is why it is essential for us Christians to help support former Musllims who are trying to reach their own people in Islamic countries.  I just got another prayer letter from Shinar Mission, Iraq (through Christian Aid)...they need 25,000 copies of the New Testament to hand out ($2 each).  The people are eager to receive the NT and even phone to ask for them.  Churches are meeting in secret, including one in Ninevah.

It's because many in our government are afraid of islamists and are freely cowtowing to their demands.

Brothers and Sisters,

I think these are simply more possible signs of the end of this age. The Bible bluntly tells us that many more horrible things than this will happen. Christians aren't supposed to be popular in this world, nor are we to conform to this world. We should expect increasing persecution, especially if we take any kind of stand for JESUS CHRIST.

Where two or three are gathered in HIS NAME, HE IS WITH THEM! We don't need huge buildings or massive crowds to worship GOD. In fact, some of the fancy buildings and massive crowds are for the vanity of man - NOT the GLORY OF GOD! It shouldn't be about what makes man happy, rather what makes GOD Happy.

Love In Christ,
Tom
