Tehran, June 10, IRNA Iran-Russia-Hosseini Iran on Sunday said it would pursue an offer recently presented by Russia to the US for joint use of a Russian-rented Qabala radar in Azerbaijan. Foreign Ministry Spokesman Mohammad-Ali Hosseini made the remark while speaking to domestic and foreign reporters at his weekly press conference. "Russia has expressed the stance of Azerbaijan, Iraq and Turkey. We are currently studying the issue," Hosseini said. He added, "Russia basically rejects what has been raised by the US side as an issue of concern." According to reports, Russian President Vladimir Putin, keen to avoid Washington placing its missile defense shield in Central Europe where Moscow says it could threaten Russian security, had suggested both sides instead used the Russian-rented Qabala radar in Azerbaijan. "Iran will follow up the case in its talks with Russia," the spokesman said. Asked whether time was ripe to revise ties with Russia, he added, "Iran and Russia enjoy numerous grounds for cooperation."
