Title: Bags of Blessings for Iraq
Post by: Debp on May 23, 2007, 08:43:41 PM
I think this is a very interesting article from Campus Crusade for Christ!

You can help win the ultimate battle for Iraq—the battle for the hearts of its people. Obviously, outreach in Iraq has long been difficult. The possibility of violence, bombings, and kidnappings is ever-present. The economy is in disarray. Religious tensions are high.

But even in the midst of this, there has been a tremendous response as the love and message of Christ continues to be shared with many. As Bibles, evangelistic films/literature, and Bags of Blessing (each filled with enough food to feed a family of seven for a week) are distributed, hearts are being softened for Christ!

In fact, in one small Iraqi town, the local mosque announced over a loudspeaker the arrival of Christians offering free food, Bibles, and a video about Jesus!

This happened when a team visited a village in Iraq and approached its mayor. They shared that they wanted to distribute food (Bags of Blessing), Bibles, and a video about Jesus. The mayor immediately sent for the local Mullah (religious leader). Team members wondered uneasily what the response would be.

Within minutes, the Mullah came to the mayor's office. The mayor shared that this team had come to distribute food, Bibles, etc.—and asked the Mullah to broadcast the news through the mosque's loudspeakers. Amazingly, the Mullah agreed! Soon, the speakers that usually broadcast Arabic prayers were announcing the news that Christians were in town with food and Bibles. Staff commented that the Bibles were in even higher demand than the food!

Amazing. Praise God for such open doors and open hearts! As people like you reach out to share the compassion and message of Christ in Iraq, lives are being transformed. With the humanitarian situation still critical, however, there remains much work to be done.

This is amazing and great news. Especially with so many Christians there being run out of the country by terrorist islamics and those islamics that help Christians and the U.S. Soldiers are being attacked by them also.

Hello Debp,

Thanks for sharing this with us. This is a beautiful story about what GOD is still doing around the world in the hearts and lives of people.

I have family members working with Campus Crusade for Christ and the Navigators all over the world. They are doing wonderful but dangerous work. I pray for them and others every day and would ask all Christians to pray for them.

The needs around the world are beyond description. I especially love to hear about help being put directly into the hands of the people needing it. We hear too often about warlords and other leaders taking the aid and either selling it or giving it only to the fighters responsible for the continuing problems. There are warehouses full of aid that remain undistributed in many parts of the world, and this is sickening. It's sad to know that there are many leaders who don't want this aid distributed, and they will kill anyone trying to do so.

This is a sad and evil world that we live in. For Christians, it's a wonderful thing to know that this world is NOT our home - our citizenship is in Heaven.

Love In Christ,
Tom

Psalms 124:8 NASB  Our help is in the name of the LORD, Who made heaven and earth.

That is wonderful to hear about your family members!  Yes, we do need to pray for them and those that need Christ in their lives.
