Rod Parsley says Christians not engaged in culture war

Pastor and Center for Moral Clarity founder Rod Parsley says the current generation of believers has failed to engage the culture. In his soon to be released book Culturally Incorrect: How Clashing Worldviews Affect Your Future, the author and minister says the culture wars have entered a new, critical phase for the United States.

In his parents' generation, Parsley points out, 65 percent of adults espoused a biblical worldview; however, that number dropped to 35 percent of people in his generation, and he says if current trends continue, by the time his 18-year-old daughter is in her 40s, the percentage of adults who espouse a biblical worldview will have dropped to only four percent.

There is a lot at stake, the pastor asserts. "We are losing the Judeo-Christian worldview," he says. "It is being stolen and raped from our educational systems, it's being thwarted in our political systems, and when worldviews collide, nations hang in the balance."

Parsley feels secular humanists are winning the culture war because many Christians are not involved. He says believers must display attitudes and actions that honor Christ as they engage in the culture war and avoid adopting the tactics of their opponents.

"We must be very careful not to respond in like kind," says the founder of the Center for Moral Clarity. "We must understand that we are called to be salt and light, and we are called to exemplify Christ in every situation," he urges, "and we must certainly refrain from the name-calling, and the belittling, and the personal attacks. And that's what I strive to do in the book -- present the worldviews that are in conflict in America today and let people make their choice."

Parsley is senior pastor of World Harvest Church in Columbus, Ohio. He says a new Great Awakening is possible, with a mix of evangelism, social action, and the engagement of culture.

The emphasis in this article is mine.

This is indeed a war. A war against good and evil and it is being taught to our children that it is "okay" to be evil under the guise of just being different.

Yes, a Biblical worldview has been taken from our schools as well as the public as a whole. Allowing our children to be taught such things in public schools as they are is bringing all this in to being.

Unfortunately, it appears that many 'Christians' are not involved in much of anything today.  They do not 'live' the life, they merely 'participate' in Christianity.  There is a too much complacency and apathy in the Christian community, and the devil uses that to his full evil advantage.

Brothers and Sisters,

There are many portions of the Holy Bible that apply to what we see happening before our very eyes right now. Many horrible things are being done to children, or in their presence, or in the presence of our Christian families.

The worst response would obviously be to encourage many evil things that we see happening today. The second worst response is probably nothing and silence. Silence is many times calling evil good. There is much disagreement among Christians who are trying to do something. In the meantime, everything around us is slipping down into the sewer, and our children and grandchildren will deal with the stench and filth that gets deeper by the second. I don't claim or even hint to have the answers, but I'm positive it isn't silence or nothing. I'm positive that silence and nothing is responsible for many of the things happening today. In another point of view, the Bible tells us that many of these things will happen, and the TRUTH of the BIBLE is unquestioned. It's simply a matter of GOD'S Timing when all of the things foretold in the BIBLE will unfold, and NOTHING will be able to stop it. I don't know if this is the time spoken of in the BIBLE or not, but that doesn't change the responsibilities and duties of Christians.

There is a fairly new term that I absolutely hate, "Politically Correct". Many people are putting this term and the issues surrounding it above "RIGHT AND WRONG". I'm an old square, and I'm probably wrong on a lot of things, but I could care less about being "Politically Correct". I get criticized all the time about not being "Politically Correct", and I'm actually very happy with the criticism. In my old and square ways of thinking, not being criticized would mean that I have conformed to the world and have joined the evil going on. If I'm wrong, I would rather be wrong, most specifically by the world's standards. This doesn't hint that I know exactly what the Biblically correct course of action is with the myriad of evil actions going on in our midst. This is something that all Christians have to pray about continually and ask GOD to guide us in the way that is HIS Will and Purpose. I'll be blunt and say that I don't think the famous preachers raking in loads of money have the answers any more than I do.

I have serious questions about many of these famous preachers, and I think that all Christians should. SO, what do we do? Don't we do what Christians have always been supposed to do? Shouldn't we all be praying and asking GOD what to do?

Regardless of what we do or don't do in the fight against evil, there are many things that are basic Christian responsibilities that have never changed and aren't subject to debate. We should know that our lives are a living testimony for CHRIST, either good or bad. This is a heavy responsibility that shouldn't be taken lightly. We should ALL know that we need GOD'S help in living a life that will be pleasing to HIM. Should there ever be any shame in proclaiming that JESUS CHRIST is the absolute LORD over our lives an we love him? Should we be in and around situations that bring glory to the devil? What do the lost think about what we do or don't do? What are the possible results of silence? Are there many situations where anything done for the LORD will be heavily criticized, REGARDLESS of how it's done?

Don't we all know many of the answers above? YES, I think that we do. SO, what will be the easiest course of action? This one is easy - silence and nothing. You won't face any adversity being silent and doing nothing. You can even be popular with the world and keep everyone around you happy by the world's standards. BUT, is this really what you should be doing as a Christian? You will make these decisions, and you will answer for them one way or another.

Love In Christ,
Tom
