Title: Homeschool graduation 'a family celebration' Post by: Soldier4Christ on May 15, 2007, 03:40:57 PM Homeschool graduation 'a family celebration'
A graduating class of college-bound homeschoolers took graceful strides in high heels and white caps and gowns adorned with sashes and tassels in their color of choice. The four female students, associated with the Coast Christian Home Educators Association, received their diplomas Saturday at Northwood Christian Center in Gulfport. "Homeschooling stripped away many of the distractions that come with traditional education and helped me see the important things of life," said Hannah Burnell, who delivered the graduation address. About 300 relatives and friends looked on with smiles and occasional giggles as the graduates starred in slide shows depicting their lives. Emcee Doug Lipscombe called the graduation "a family celebration, a family achievement. It's a calling, a family commitment to raise your children in the nuture and admonition of the Lord." The graduates said their homeschool years are filled with memories of family, church and activities such as 4-H Club, choir, the Civil Air Patrol and a national debate program. Burnett and Chelsea Powell were homeschooled since age 5 or 6. "I wouldn't have had it any other way," Powell said. May GOD give us all the guidance and strength to do what we know is RIGHT for our children and grandchildren. If we pray, GOD will be with us and equip us for the joyful tasks ahead. After all, this is a matter of Christian Love for our own children and grandchildren. Love In Christ, Tom Matthew 5:11 NASB "Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me. Romans 4:20-21 NASB yet, with respect to the promise of God, he did not waver in unbelief but grew strong in faith, giving glory to God, and being fully assured that what God had promised, He was able also to perform. |
