I want to the Radio, too. I'm a big CGJ fan. Title: Re:Playmakers Post by: Willowbirch on October 21, 2003, 02:23:58 PM "Radio" isn't the movie where the son finds out he can talk to his dead father in the past through a radio, is it??? If not, what is that movie called?
Title: Re:Playmakers Post by: Tibby on October 21, 2003, 03:01:08 PM No, I forget the name, but it is a good one. Where the Northern lights does something, and he like saved his fireman father from dying in a fire and stuff. Dennis Quad, is it?
We are talking about the new Cuba Gooding Jr. movie. All I know is Cuba plays a Mongoloid boy, and it is the about football. The latter is good enough ha reason to see it! I haven’t seen a good football movie in a while, and “Any give Sunday” put a bad taste in my mouth. The Replacements, THAT was a good football movie. Of course, it didn’t top the all time classic “The Longest Yard.” A must see right there! Title: Re:Playmakers Post by: Jabez on October 22, 2003, 06:09:02 AM I whatched the first few episodes last night, and the story line is good, but theres too much cussing and i seen one adult scene. As much as i like the story line i wont set time aside to whatch it again.I feel uncomfortable whatching it.
Title: Re:Playmakers Post by: Tibby on October 22, 2003, 09:03:42 AM It is a drama. Which, as we all know, means that the pressure is so grea,t people just lose control ;D lol j/k I hate when people use that to excuse the language of a movie or show "Well, the guys in the movie are under a lot of pressure, of course they will curse." Ok, so the plot, setting, fight scences, and acting doesn't have to be believable, but the language does? PLEASE!
Anyways, I was studying for a test today (pray for me) so I missed the mini-marthon. :( Stupid college. College would be great if I didn't have all these classes ;D Some of the richest people in the world never even went to college. It isn't fair. >:( :-\ ;) Title: Re:Playmakers Post by: Jabez on October 22, 2003, 10:56:54 AM I play football i know about the stresses, iam just uncomfortable with foul language is all.I dont curse as a rule, now i may say a curse if for example iam makeing a tackle and my finger gets broke, but even then i feel awful.I still whatch tv but if it gets out of control i will turn it.
Title: Re:Playmakers Post by: Willowbirch on October 22, 2003, 11:52:36 AM No, I forget the name, but it is a good one. Where the Northern lights does something, and he like saved his fireman father from dying in a fire and stuff. Dennis Quad, is it? Sorry, nevermind - I think the movie I'm thinking of is called "frequency". :)Title: Re:Playmakers Post by: Tibby on October 22, 2003, 05:32:17 PM Stress is NEVER that bad. I had a friend who was using stress is excuse the large amount of cursing in one of those recent Hunt for Red October clones. And then he is like "Oh, besides, that is how most Navy Guys talk." People do that lot, it just gets on my nerves. Maybe in real life, MAYBE, if the person had a control problem, but this is the movies! Not else is realistic, why should the dialog be?
Anyways, I don't think the language is that bad. Maybe a little bit of in the content, such as the issue with the closet homosexual player. But a lot of the issues are realistic for the plot. Spousal abuse is a big issue in professional sports. I’m glad they are addressing it. Maybe they will have a part of the show where one of the star stabs a guy to death, and *shock and awe* gets in trouble for it! >:( That would be a nice change of pace. Even if it is fiction. :) Yeah, frequency, that is the name. :) |
